When Modi was CM of Gujrat, he orchestrated communal riots in which around 2000 Muslims were killed/burned. He was banned from visiting United States for a long time till he became PM of India. Not only he visited USA, he also welcomed American President in the same Gujrat state in a stadium. Cherry on top, he also gave a gift of communal riots in Delhi to the American president the next day when he was in the capital city.

My point, freedom and democracy loving America does sanction individuals for whatever reasons when deem necessary and looks the other way for whatever reasons when deem necessary.

All these things are well known to the world especially to the newer generation. But somehow, our esteemed senior citizen member Mr. Bluesky is an old school gentlemen who still believes in old mantra of American freedom and democracy and is naive enough to believe that American intentions are pure and without any angles and if people do show up for freedom and democracy, America is gonna actually help them and they will be safe and somehow everything will be hunky dory. Ahhh.... some people are just so simpletons....

You are making a mix-up of Sugar and Salt. These two substances are different.

BD people do not want sleepless nights by the RAB bullying. They come at the dead of night to pick up a political activist and you will never see him again. Should we not thank America for putting sanction against that organization?

Watch all the videos. The sanctions did not come suddenly. The process continued from the time of President Trump and the Biden administration is taking action.

About India, I have nothing to say in this thread because it is not my country. It is not wise to make a parallel with what happens in India. Please talk about India in a proper thread.

And do not please mix salt with sugar. They look the same but taste different.

These sanctions are plain and simple way of forcing BD to submit to US sphere of influence. Given the current geopolitical situation and our location, Bangladesh is now Pakistan of 1980s to Uncle Sam. Completely agree with Pinaki's analysis.

Only fools believe that US is doing it for the love of installing democracy and human rights. Had that been the case, US had plenty of opportunity to do it since the creation of RAB, almost 2 decades of human rights violation and only now they feel the need to sanction RAB? They are fooling no one.

I am happy US is sanctioning BD, because it will take us closer to Chinese Sphere. Hence the timing of Chinese envoy's comment carrying more significance than ever. Getting in bed with US would only bring misfortune for Bangladesh. Rather we stay neutral or be in Chinese camp, who has a proven track of being friend to Bangladesh.

আসলে প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক শিক্ষায় তো টেক্সটবুকের বাইরের কিছুই শেখানো হয় না। তাই বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে বিশেষ কিছু বই মুখস্ত করে পরীক্ষা দিয়ে ডিগ্রী নিয়ে বাংলাদেশের বেশিরভাগ মানুষ ভাবে যে আমি না জানি কি হনু রে!

What a BAL way of lame excuses!!! The USA is not another stupid BD, Decisions take many days/ months of deliberations there. You don't know because your mind lives in the ghetto country called Bangladesh. Nothing bright can enter that.

Trump administration started the sanction process and Biden administration sealed it after long deliberations.

BD is now labeled the same as North Korea. It is all because of BAL/ RAB bullying of people. More than 600 BD opposition people have disappeared after they were taken away by RAB.

Some stupid should also come out with another theory that the USA has sanctioned North Korea also because the former wants the latter to become a part of QUAD. No doubt, the sanctioned China will also now become another QUAD member.

What a stupid theory!!! It is just shameful when someone talks like this. Sanctioning a country means punishing that country that has no democracy and a single party rules over the country continuously by steam-roller.

I think part of Bangladesh' paramilitary forces especially parts of RAB were trained either by UK units or US units.

If so - this sanction business NOW is just a political pawn move it seems.

Let's see which option Bangladesh takes, it is a FORK in the road now.

US is betting that Apparel export to US by Bangladesh worth dozens of Billions is great leverage to pressure Bangladesh to change the status quo, whatever it is RIGHT NOW.

That is my humble take after @leonblack08 bhai's comment. Please don't judge me - I am not a good analyzer of events in my limited understanding.

Some self proclaimed pundits forget that China was also sanctioned by USA! But they always speak about North Korea!

Perhaps they don't understand that QUAD is anti China alliance and North Korea is already in Chinese block!So only Pundits like him can have such crazy idea!
