King Salman bin Abdulaziz, who is known for his contributions made to memorisation of the Holy Quran, intonation and recitation, memorised the entire Quran while he was only 12.
According to local press, King Salman, born in Riyadh on 5/10/1354 H corresponding to December 31, 1935, received his early education at Princes' School and celebrated the completion of memorizing the whole Quran on Sunday, 12/8/1364 H.
As president of the 'Prince Salman Prize for Quran Memorization' for boys and girls in Saudi Arabia, he encouraged fellow citizens to learn and memorize the Holy Quran.
A staunch believer in the Holy Quran, King Salman in one of his speeches observed, "The Holy Quran is one of the great bounties bestowed by Allah Almighty on the Muslims, and when we adhere to the teachings of the Holy Quran we will remain honored and strong, and if we fail to do so then we will be humiliated and divided."
