My first question is was pakistan under sanctions when they were trying to do nucluer bomb , if they was , how long did it last and isit still carrying on and what extent.

2. if pakistan was sanctioned why didnt india ? or did they .

3. third question is , do countries sanction a country for how long e.g if iran made the bomb how long will they be under sanctions , im sure they soften up after a certain time .

4. can pakistan keep on increasing nucluer warheads .

thanks

.
1. yes from 1990 till 2001. we were denied economic and millitary assistance. our paid f16 were embargoed and we were denied spares for our existing hardware.
2. india was under sanctions but it did not had any major effect as india had all russian stuff.
3. there is no time line or limit, our sanctions were only lifted because west needed our help in afghanistan after 9/11.
4. yes pakistan is increasing its nuclear arsenal and it now has over 100 active nuclear devices.

Yes Pakistan was under sanctions. I think they were in sanctions since 1965. (Not too sure) Till 2001 if I am right. But Pakistanis have to confirm this or correct me.

Yes India was sanctioned from 1974 to 2001. It started with the first nuke test in 1974, although these sanctions were on technology etc., I think that was the same with Pakistan. But these sanctions had zero effect on India, because India was already socialist and had a closed economy with a huge public sector. Even China is under sanctions I think, especially for military tech.

Iran's sanctions are to completely cripple it and make it destitute. Its the most severe sanctions ever to be put on any country. They are even cut off from international trade, because now they are cut off from using SWIFT codes. Iran's sanctions are actually akin to war against a nation. It will stop when Iran dismantles its nuclear program (I suppose), but you can never be sure.

4. can pakistan keep on increasing nucluer warheads .

Yes they can. They are not a signatory to the NPT, much like Israel and India. Although uncle Sam will nag, they havent let that get to their heads. They have continually increased their nuclear arsenal over time.

is keeping nucluer weapons expensive - if not why dont pakistan get 1,000 will be great detterent , as well as improving economy but thats different story

pakistan had different periods of sanctions, the first in 1965 till west needed us against USSR in the 80's and then again from 1990 till 2001 again sanctions were imposed and this time they were more severe and did alot of demage to our economy as well and effected our military really bad.

It is indeed expensive. Plus the fact that nuclear warheads decay over time, to finally become unusable does not make sense to make 1000. The United States at its peak had like 35000 if I am right, but right now they have less than 1/3rd of it active. Plus you would need that much of Uranium to be enriched and you need Uranium for that, all of which could get pretty expensive.

Pakistan was heavily sanctioned after 89 & there was immense pressure from the world to abandon nuclear program(even threatenings). I also read somewhere Israel along with india had a plan to attack Pakistan's nuclear sites & installations but they had to abandon their plans after Pakistan warn both countries that it will reply & repay heavily to both countries. Note that Israel had secretly send it's F18 Jets to india for attack too which were reveiled & exposed by Pakistan's Intelligence ISI. Sanctioned were lifted in 2002 after Afghan war started.

Britain has 222 nukes - they have envisioned a cost of $80 billion just for upkeep for 20 years, one can do a reverse calculation on that to assume the cost of maintenance.

oh really???? But I thought that Israel doesn't operate any F-18. If they doesn't possess any F-18 then how they sent F-18 to India and why India need F-18 when we have so many attack aircraft?

Pakistan has about 200 nukes must be costing $3-4 billions every year.

The information is sketchy. But as far as I know, it was called Operation Blue Tulsi. And no Israel doesnt have F18s. They must have planned to send F16s or F15s. They had a plan to go to India, land there, refuel. And then take off for Pakistan below radar range, and bomb Pakistani establishments - Kahuta research laboratories. Alternatively its said that they had a plan to shoot down a commercial airliner and then assume close formations, to appear as if it was the commercial airliner on radar, and then bomb the Pakistani establishments. But seems Pakistan got wind of it pretty early and India opted out for fear of escalation. So the plan was foiled.

Not sure about 200 nukes - even if it is I would estimate it at roughly 300-400 Million that is @10% of the cost of what Britain spends.
