Qatar not planning investments in Russia amid war: Qatari FM

DOHA, 11 days ago

Qatar is reviewing its investments in Russia under the current situation and it is not thinking about increasing that these days, says Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani.

...

Economic sanctions

On economic sanctions in Iran, he says: “Regarding the economic sanctions, we as a small country, we never believed that economic sanctions or unilateral sanctions are effective tools to change policies. And this has been a very clear and principled position for us. So, economic sanctions normally affecting the people and punishing the people for policies of government, we don't see it as the right approach.

“So, we believe that economic sanctions need to be lifted and the country needs a relief because of the people, and this is this is the livelihood of the Iranian people, it's not punishing a government.”

On the IRGC, Sheikh Mohammed says: “The IRGC is part of the Iranian government or Iranian official military structure. We should respect their structure. We should really talk about the actions that are being taken by certain forces here and there and those actions if they are like in the bad interest of the region or specific countries or targeting, you know, civilians in any way those actions need to be terrorised, but not just terrorising an organisation because of because of specific action by a smaller group of them.”

The IRGC is an armed craft which its only purpose is to protect the leadership party. its roles only expanded when the military failed to assert its dominance

The IRGC's role, as defined in the Iranian Constitution, is to protect not a specific party but the Islamic Revolution which came out victorious in 1979, from any and all sorts of threats, foreign and domestic, military and non-military (political, economic, cultural etc).

Sepah's power has increased because it used to be a completely new type of institution with no prior experience. It takes time for such an innovative Corps to gradually deploy its potential and develop its capabilities in the various branches of activity that fall under its constitutionally delineated domain of competence. So this is a natural course and not the outcome of a purported competition with the regular Army, because the latter's function is simply more restricted than the IRGC's.

So The IRGC is there to protect a the idea of the "islamic" reveloution and whoever is with it. The military's role is decreased by the constitution itself. I dont understand the need to have 2 powers one to protect the idea of the reveloution and its leaders and one to protect the country. While the IRGC takes most of iran's spending on weapons leaving the army a naked police force at best with putdated equipment. I thank God Egypt didnt have the same fate as iran in 2012

The military's role is that of a military anywhere, a classical one. As for the IRGC's duty to protect the Revolution, when your people rose up in an anti-imperialist and Islamic upheaval, ousted a US client regime, and began resisting the zionists and Americans, you're guaranteed to have the world's powers to be arrayed against you. And they'll seek to destabilize your country and topple your revolutionary state through every conceivable tool in their arsenal: economic sanctions, cultural subversion, psy-ops, propaganda, espionage, sabotage, terrorist proxies, war waged on you through third parties (Saddam), you name it. Hence you're in an extraordinary geopolitical situation, which calls for original countermeasures, and the IRGC is just that.

Regardless of all those sabotage, Iran is still rising.

Indeed. Many factors are contributing to this. But the two most decisive ones I would say are first Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei, his political outlook and ideology (which he inherited from Imam Khomeini), and second the IRGC. The former defined the correct path towards development for Iran, the latter ensured basic security without which it wouldn't be possible to engage on that path.

If your narrative is that saddam was used by the us to wage the war then iam very sorry to have wasted my time with you
