DHAKA: Qatar Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al Thani has agreed to visit Bangladesh.
He expressed his eagerness in a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina outside the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD-8) Summit in Qatar.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Qatar Md Shahadat Hossain disclosed the matter to banglanews.
The two leaders discussed many things in details especially about increasing Qatars investment in developing infrastructure of Bangladesh and strengthening bilateral cooperation in different sectors.
The Emir of the oil rich country said Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah bin Hamad al Attiyah would visit Bangladesh soon as a preparatory visit for him.
At the time, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her gratitude to Qatar Emir for providing huge Bangladeshis employment in the country.
The PM also urged Qatar to import Bangladeshi products like ceramics, pharmaceuticals, garment products, frozen fish, leather derivative products etc.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is now in Qatar to join UNCTAD XIII conference held in Qatar National Convention Center.
In the meeting with Qatar Emir, PM was accompanied by Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni, Ambassador at large M Ziauddin, PM Chief Secretary M Wahid-ud-Zaman, Foreign Ministry Secretary Mijarul Qayes and BD Ambassador to Qatar Shahidul Hossain.
