Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri announced on Monday a countrywide protest movement against the ruling PML-N government from January 17.
The decision came a day after PAT-led APC deadline for the resignations of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, who were accused of Model Town tragedy, expired.
At least 14 people died and 85 others were injured in a clash between police and PAT workers over the issue of barriers erected outside the Minhajul Quran Secretariat in Lahore in June of 2014.
“The deadline has ended but the demands have not been met,” Qadri said while announcing the protests. “Now we won’t ask for the resignations; we will take them forcefully.”
