What else could be expected huh? Obama studied politics&law, became a politician...bla bla bla.

But Putin, well Putin was a former soldier and ex-FSB(KGB). He served for his nation more that 25 years even before being the PM of Russia. As they say about him, "Once a spy, always a spy.". As seen it the pics at the link, he's working, fitting himself....etc. It's an old habbit coming from the Army. We can't compare these two guys while both have grown from two different worlds.

Putin graduated from the International Law branch of the Law Department of the Leningrad State University in 1975, writing his final thesis on international law. His PhD thesis was titled "The Strategic Planning of Regional Resources Under the Formation of Market Relations" and it argued that Russian economic success would depend on creating national energy champions.

Such people are good leaders who are well educated and know how to think ahead!

Well Obama became more of a puppet because of all the bureaucracy in USA...Not exactly a leader but more of a yes man...more of a diplomat rather than a leader!

During Putin's first premiership and presidency (1999–2008), real incomes increased by a factor of 2.5, real wages more than tripled; unemployment and poverty more than halved and the Russians' self-assessed life satisfaction rose significantly. Putin's first presidency was marked by high economic growth: the Russian economy grew for eight straight years, seeing GDP increase by 72% in PPP (sixfold in nominal). These achievements have been ascribed by analysts to good macroeconomic management, important fiscal reforms, increasing capital inflows, access to low-cost external financing and a five-fold increase in the price of oil and gas which constitute the majority of Russian exports.
