Why do USA push for NATO expansion in Ukraine when they are prepring to redirect forces to the Western Pacific?

Could it be that USA wants concessions from Russia? Or want to stop flow of gas so that American companies can sell Shale LNG. Maybe a conflict is in US interest, because that would stop Chinese plans for rail and road arteries between west europe and China?

that is the whole point; nato is NOT going to go to war, they want ukraine to be the sacrificial lamb against Russia, nato and its ol' perverted daddy uncle sam will NOT put boots on the ground in ukraine but they WILL arm ukraine with all weapons needed for guerrilla to drag Russia into a quagmire. notice, u.s. and nato have NOT been shipping tanks or fighter planes or radars to ukraine, they've been sending assault rifles, flack jackets, man-portable anti-tank missiles, sam manpads, basically stuff you need to fight a long drawn out guerrilla war. My advice to Russia would be to NOT physically enter ukraine, but rather, bomb them into submission via stand off weapons and air attacks. Don't worry about taking territory, just use that scorched earth policy, do that for 2 days, watch how fast kiev will succumb...they will beg to let a pro-Russian government take over.
