PUNJGUR GIRLS TAUGHT BY ‘GHOSTS’

Many girls have dropped out due to ghost teachers problem.
There are several schools in Balochistan where students can’t be educated in the 21st century because their teachers choose to stay absent. These teachers don’t mind receiving regular salary without performing any duty at all.

In one such school in Union Council Kallag, Punjgur, girls can be seen in the classroom waiting for their teachers to show up. Some students come to the school with a hope that one day they would see the face of their dear teacher. But that day has not come since the beginning of the session in April this year.

Girls High School, Kallag has practically become dysfunctional due to more than 60 percent teaching staff’s absence.

The school has also no headmistress to look after the affairs and ensure the presence of all teaching staff. It is the only school for the girls in the whole union council with a population of around five thousand.

The headmaster of the Boys’ High School has an additional charge of the girl’s school but this makeshift arrangement does not seem to be working as the ghost teachers issue persists.

Kallag is a remote union council located 25 km away from the main city of Punjgur. It is nearly impossible for a common man to afford private schools, which are also located far in the main city. It is also difficult for them to send their kids as far as the city.

It is the main reason behind a large number of dropouts in the area.

PakVoices reached out to the headmaster, Abdul Wahab Baloch, who told the citizen journalist platform,” Despite repeated warnings, the school staff has remained absent.”

He further said, “The school has a teaching staff comprising of 13 teachers, out of which, only 5 teachers are taking their classes and other teachers mostly remain absent.’’

The principal wrote this letter to the district education department which contains the list of ghost teachers.
Asked whether he had taken any action against any of the absent teachers, Baloch replied,“I have written letters to the District Education Officer, complaining about the missing staff.”

He added,” Despite our repeated complaints, no action has been taken so far.”

“The payment of salaries was stopped for a period of one month,” Baloch said. The principle does not have the authority to stop the payment of salary for more than a month so the teachers got their salaries restored.

Shakir Baloch, a resident of the area and the father of three students, enrolled in the school, expressed his disappointment over the issue of teachers’ absence at the school. He called on the authorities to take immediate action and resolve the issue for the sake of children’s education.

Balochistan is the most backward province of the country in terms of education, where female literacy rate is comparatively low. According to a report published in The Nation, “70% of girls are dropped out from schools in Balochistan. The overall female literacy rate is 25%.”

Yet the brave daughters of this soil compete with boys in every walk of life.

Democracy rules.

It saddens me to see that picture of those poor girls sitting in that classroom empty without the corrupt teacher showing up.

Imagine the hopelessness they must feel at such a young age as society treats them with disdain.

Then we complain about where all these extremists are born from..

Some madrassa will come along and pickup these kids and give them a roof and the wrong kind of education!

Shame!

Shame is not enough, every person in Pakistan who ask for democracy must be charged for all these sufferings.
Every official of election commission must be court martialed.

Ghost teachers and ghost schools are the biggest crime of the political mafia in Sindh and Balochistan.

This problem is the same as in 2005. Political hirings have devastated the education department in Pakistan.

Where are the educational reforms?

As a teacher I can't think of anything more heart wrecking than seeing that picture. Our poor children. These teachers should be arrested and their belongings taken to pay for the wages i.e. haram kamai they took.

It's an insult to call them teachers

It goes far worse than that brother. They are literally stealing the youth of these lovely children.

Education has become status quo luxury thanks to corruption. Both financial and moral.

.
It was the same situation in jaffarbad , balochistan too . There were no teachers when my father visited the schools there, they only used to get the salary but wouldnt like to come to school . He took strict actions and got the teachers attend school daily .
The teachers has their face a size of a bean due to stricness on them .

In my observation , balochistan needs to be educated in english .
I agree with the importance of urdu language but overall, theres no real benfit in not understanding english .
Millions of students donot have education in english and it creates a very very big problem for the students in their upcoming education levels.
Like they cannot chose or do well in the subjects they will chose in their unjversity level .
When i was in my university , i first chose english language subject , the class had over more than 200 girl students ..but then gradually the amount decreased to only 50 students cause the students cannot understand a word of the subject they have chosen .
In my opinion , teaching english is very important for the pakistnis.

This is not the problem of democracy but rather a lack of it.
The incompetence and criminal behaviour of the people is due to the lack of moral responsibility towards the nation.
No one in Pakistan cares much about the lives of fellow Pakistanis.
Almost everyone is selfish enough to catch the first flight out of Pakistan.

You know why ..

Because we are tired and fed up of this conservative soceity that keeps us bound in the chains .. We do not have free will or equal human rights both from government and the people living here ...
heres no free will of humans existing ..
