Punjab to spend Rs12b for potable water

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said in implementation of an all important clean drinking water programme, availability of potable water to the people in Punjab would be ensured for which the government would spend Rs 12billion in the current fiscal year. He said under the Saaf Pani project, water filtration plants would be installed throughout the province. He said within the next four and a half years every one in Punjab will get potable water. The CM has also invited Nestle company to help government efforts in the implementation of Saaf Pani project as well as livestock and dairy farming sectors.
The Chief Minister said this while talking to Executive Vice President of Nestle, Doreswamy Nandkishore. Provincial Minister for Industry Ch. Muhammad Shafique, Special Assistant on Livestock Ch. Arshad Jutt, Secretary Livestock, Secretary Industry, Chairman Punjab Investment Board and Chief Executive Officer Nestle Pakistan and Afghanistan were also present. The Chief Minister said on the occasion that Saaf Pani project of the government aims at protecting the people from water born diseases throughout the province. Shahbaz Sharif said it is also prime responsibility of the government to ensure availability of potable water to the citizens. He said that Saaf Pani Project would be executed speedily and with a national spirit and Nestle company should consider working with Punjab government in the implementation of the project. Shahbaz Sharif said that livestock and dairy farming sectors have a key importance in national economy and there are vast opportunities of investment in these sectors. He said that Nestle can also cooperate in dairy farming and livestock sectors.
Doreswamy Nandkishore said that Nestle is ready to cooperate with Punjab government in Saaf Pani Project besides livestock and dairy farming sectors. He also invited the Chief Minister to visit the head office of Nestle in Switzerland
