Curfew imposed after Pakistan funeral attack

Pakistani authorities have imposed a curfew in the north-western town of Dera Ismail Khan following a suicide bomb attack which left 27 people dead.

The bomb was detonated at the funeral of a local Shia Muslim cleric who was murdered on Thursday.

Local officials fear the blast could trigger further sectarian violence.

Angry residents rioted in the centre of the town before the army was sent to restore order and impose the curfew.

Two weeks ago, 35 people were killed in a suicide bombing in Pakistan's Punjab province.

It's like what Talleyrand said about the Bourbons' return to power: "They have learned nothing and forgotten nothing."

When people give their leaders unconditional support policy is likely to be reduced to tactical maneuvering and personal warfare. What alternative to these two sons-of-b****es do Pakistanis have?

Civil Martial Law has been Imposed In Punjab.

Nice Going Zardari your are really Testing Kiyani's Patience :), You are Pushing him to Limits.

there is no sense in martial law unless someone really wants to give the house a good cleanout and extermination of vermin. Otherwise we will keep playing the same game in another decade. The political leaders need to sort their own mess out with the Army keeping out and telling them to get on with it. believe me, it would be doing Pakistan a far bigger service than taking over. Zardari is ensuring that the next election would be his last one.

If Pakistan gets as far as holding such an election without a coup, it will be a huge step in the right direction.

I see Kayani in presidency and Musharraf as care taker president.....

Curfew is a bit of an exaggeration of the current scenario in Punjab. I firmly believe that these steps were much needed to substantiate some level of sense of security for the local populace.

There is no denying the security is inundated with several tasks courtesy of corrupt lawyers. We need to lay down a foundation of stability so that the event (Long march) goes without a hitch and peacefully without creating a sense of anarchy or chaos. Security, stability and peace are the key factors required right now and for that the gov. needs to arrest all of those clowns including NS and Kurd.

We all know what NS and Co. intends to achieve with this.

Martial law is not the answer but sometimes is the only option. Thats what has been happening since Pakistan's creation.
Imposing martial law is like press the reset button on the computer. It will probably reboot but still have the problem. Need to get rid of the problem that makes us reboot our country.

Already put under house arrest are the leaders of all opposition except the PML(Q) what a useless way to end a revolution either it will be bloody or it will die down.
