There is more happening in background than the picture. He wanted a way out.

He has previously asked months ago that he wants more involvement than be a governor (which is mostly ceremonial post). Since nawaz holds foreign ministry, he was eyeing on it (free trips, power etc).

Now PTI and PPP are and may have been approaching him. If they get in power someday, he may be good candidate for foreign ministry.

Obama ignoring Pakistan a diplomatic failure, says Sarwar - thenews.com.pk

Meets US consul general, calls for equal treatment of Islamabad & Delhi; envoy praises role of Pakistani people, armed forces in war on terror

While talking to the media during his visit to Lahore Museum, the governor said Obama must use his influence to ease tension at Pak-India borders. However, he added, the Obama decision not to visit Pakistan, a country which has faced the greatest loss in the war against terrorism, reflected our failure at diplomatic level.

Having lost more than 50,000 of its soldiers and civilians, and facing a loss of billions of rupees, the governor believes that Pakistan was deprived of its credit when President Obama vowed to support India’s candidature in the United Nations Security Council.

This is all political. The thing is, this guy and many on here, aren't up to speed on the global strategy. Pakistan is not an unimportant country to the US. BUT, the US also doesn't want India and Pakistani relationships to be seen in the same context anymore.

The fact is, India through the nuclear and other deals, is helping the US economy with billions of dollars worth of business. India's market presents billions worth of opportunity to the American businesses (who are already very established there), but in Pakistan, outside of the terrorism and Afghanistan, what's the importance? (with WOT closing to its end and US forces leaving on top of it)?? There isn't anything outside of just some "goodwill".

The US wanted to send this message to everyone that India and Pakistan are two different countries and their relationships are different too, based on US interests. Its not a bad thing, its just that this was a business trip and had no relationship with Pakistan.

Plus, look inside Pakistan, the Chinese premier (who's the best friend of Pakistan) had recently cancelled his trip. The US is hated across Pakistan the most. Why would the US president take such a high risk?

However, in the next 3-5 years, when the economy gets better, the electric shortage issue is resolved and the economic corridor is started to get busy, Pakistan's economy will take off too and it will be in the top 10-15 economies on the map. Pakistan will become a huge BPO market, I am sure the US presidents in the future would visit Pakistan for bilateral trade and relationships.

The billion strong population is India and China's strength (and weakness), as the population size is what keeps their economies at such a larger size due to internal consumption. And same goes for Pakistan. It's the 6th largely populated country, you couldn't ignore a country with that much market size and of course, with being the only Muslim nuclear power. But Peace and Stability have to be there for foriegn trade, business deals and relationships to occur between people of Pakistan and the outside world.

he was being pushed back by PMLN not letting him do the work he intended to do so he was looking for any excuse to quit.

Lol yeah your totally right. Such brilliant insight. Pakistan is very lucky to have you.

And you became very lucky after Obama visit to India. Yesterday I saw a new India in which the Law N Order situation became damn good, I was shocked to see that. BTW I wanna know what's the nick name of Delhi which you indians have made? :D

Those morons who say Chinese premiere cancelled his visit to Pakistan needs a kick in their gut so that they can come back to reality. Now listen up there was no trip planned by the Chinese to Pakistan. It was a political stunt played by namaz government to make Imran and PTI look bad but after the clearance from Chinese foreign spokesperson, it felt flat.
