PUNJAB Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that modern command and control center of police will play an important role in improving law and order and controlling street crime in the province. He said nine divisions of the province would be linked with the command and control center through satellite under a phased programme. He said command and control center would help keep a vigilant eye on criminals and miscreants through digital monitoring of the city and it was an important step towards making the cities safe and peaceful.
He was presiding over a high level meeting at the Chief Minister’s Office on Thursday which reviewed the pace of progress on command and control center project as well as discussed various proposals in this regard.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said command and control center project was of vital importance for improving law and order and controlling crimes. He said work was in progress round the clock for construction of the latest integrated command, control and communication centre. He said state-of-the-art machinery and equipments would be installed at centre. He said that in the first phase, most modern CCTV cameras would be installed at important places, bazaars and markets in the provincial metropolis while the scope of this project would also be extended to other big cities under a phased programme. The Chief Minister said command and control center would operate as a completely independent and autonomous institution and would be run in an organised and scientific manner.
He said survey had been completed for the installation of the latest CCTV cameras at 1800 places in Lahore and it was hoped that the project would be completed within the given timeframe. Shahbaz Sharif also issued instructions for formation of a steering committee for speedy implementation of the project
