The five low-intensity blasts at Pune on Wednesday evening are an act of terror, the Intelligence Bureau has claimed. The discovery of a sophisticated circuit at one of the blast sites has led the IB officials to believe that it is the handiwork of a professional terrorist group.

However, looking at the intensity of the blasts, it becomes clear that it was an attempt to convey a message to the Indian agencies and cause a scare. Interestingly, the blasts took place a day when the new Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde.

However, Shinde had cancelled his plans on Wednesday morning.

"It does not appear to be a well-planned operation, and it seems like the goal was to create a scare," an IB official pointed out.
Agencies are looking into the various aspects of the blasts. However, the police is now focusing to find if there are any more unexploded bombs, and is trying to sanitise the area. A general alert has been sounded across the nation in the wake of these blasts.
