ISLAMABAD: Majority of the lawmakers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have agreed to return to the National Assembly after promulgation of Ordinance for the constitution of Judicial Commission.
They are of the view that most of the demands of Imran Khan’s party have been met after promulgation of the JC ordinance, therefore, PTI should return to the parliament.
However, a few of the PTI MPAs have opposed the return, saying that the party should wait till the actual formation of the Judicial Commission because right now merely an ordinance has been promulgated.
In this regard, a meeting of PTI’s core committee has been convened on Sunday (April 5) to make the final decision over return to the assemblies.
President Mamnoon Hussain on Friday (today) signed an ordinance for the formation of a JC to investigate alleged irregularities and rigging in the 2013 General Elections.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had advised the president to sign the ordinance and a summary was sent in this regard on Thursday.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led government and the opposition PTI came to an agreement for the formation of the commission, which will be tasked to investigate the matter within 45 days.
It is pertinent to note here that the joint session of the parliament has also been convened to discuss the Yemen conflict on Monday.
