ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday disqualified the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Ijaz Chaudhry for his involvement in human smuggling and holding a fake graduation certificate.
A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, took up the case and upheld the decision of Chaudhry’s disqualification by election tribunal.The tribunal had disqualified PTI MNA for possessing fake degree and his involvement in human smuggling.
Ijaz Chaudhry was elected as MNA independently from NA-108 Mandi Bahauddin in the 2013 general elections and joined Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz afterwards. Ijaz Chaudhry quitted PML-N and joined the PTI in November 2014 when he held a meeting with PTI Chairman Imran Khan in Islamabad.
