PESHAWAR: Senior workers of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chapter of the PTI have shown dissatisfaction over the policies of the central leadership and expressed reservations over the increasing communication gap between the two tiers of the party.

They described provincial ministers holding party offices as unconstitutional and said they were taking no interest in the party that might harm it during the next general elections in 2018.

In this regard they cited the case of the PTI provincial secretariat in Peshawar and said the office had ceased to work since its six employees were fired in June 2016.

PTI needs new strategies to overcome shortcomings

Currently, only two employees run the whole secretariat, while during the last three months neither PTI Peshawar president Shah Farman nor a single PTI member visited the office, the disgruntled workers said and added the employees have been running the secretariat from their own resources while they also are not receiving the salaries on time.

A senior PTI worker in Peshawar told The Express Tribune on the condition of anonymity that due to lack of seriousness the provincial leadership has lost its reputation.

“This can be judged from the November 2 rally in which a very small number of workers participated.”

He said senior workers have decided to start a movement in the province to provide a proper platform to party workers and unite them against the irregularities in the party cabinet’s organisation.

“Regional presidents of the party have been holding ministerial posts as well as party offices and they are finding it difficult to meet with workers and organise them for political activities.”

“For example, Shah Farman is holding the portfolio of the public health engineering as well as the office of the party’s Peshawar region president. Ali Amin Gandapur is the minister for revenue and the party’s southern region president.”

The workers said according to the PTI constitution, it was unlawful for a provincial minister to hold the office in the government and the party cabinet at the same time. He said it was mentioned in the PTI constitution that the party was legally bound to hold intra-party elections, but unfortunately the process was delayed time and again due to personal interests of party leaders.

Imran’s party to train its guns on Shahbaz Sharif

Head of the Central Media Department of the PTI Iftikhar Durrani, while talking to The Express Tribune, admitted the party had focused more on the Panama case than on organising provincial activities.

“In a day or two, the senior leadership will sit together and discuss the future planning.” He said they would start an awareness campaign across the country and start it from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

About the PTI provincial secretariat, Durrani said: “I don’t know about the current status of the office and will bring it into the notice of the senior leadership of the situation.”

About holding dual offices by ministers, he said it was the decision of the senior leadership and added that it was not possible for the party to hold intra-party elections before the coming general elections.

Imran khan needs to focus on his province and his party now since only a year left till elections and PPP and PMLN have started their campaigns and PPP is really bringing that poster boy fool bilawal Bhutto forward to get votes and sadly the pathetic state of this nation is that it will stupidly give votes to PPP ( the most corrupt party in history who nearly destroyed us) in the name of dead characters.

Imran needs to organize its party in all provinces to make a strong mark. Hr has ignored the votes of sindh and Baluchistan. He must regroup and focus on those provinces along with Punjab and kpk. South Punjab and rural Punjab needs to be targeted.

May we never see the days of PPP ever again and the repeat of 2008-2013.

I completely agree with you it's high time he focus on 2018 elections he has exposed NS and his corruption well atleast to the people of this country we all know what SC is gonna do so it's better if he focus on 2018 now and may he win only than he can bring change.

Yes, IK needs to give up the dream of bringing down Nawaz from power. Instead efforts should be placed on taking Sindh and Balochistan, the two most impoverished regions of Pakistan.

Only when people see the improvements in these provinces will they vote for his party in Punjab.

Campaigning should begin now, get an early start and highlight the flaws in the regional governments.

To b very honest... pti is all set for less than 5 ntional assembly seats...in 2018...that is unless some thing huge comes out of supreme court... completely unexpectedly

I think it is better if PTI continues to focus on Nawaz and his personal belongings. That way PMLN will be favorite to win the second election and democracy can continue. :D

To be honest, a patwari's prediction / comment is worth less than a used and smeared toilet paper.

Is ability to speak from both ends obligatory to b a pti supporter or just a prefered trait??

Agreed.

We need more of PML-N and PPP. After all corruption is what we require to make this country more prosperous. Just look at the prosperity we Pakistanis have achieved in the last 8 years, our foreign debt has been reduced to zero.

Not to mention the fact that KPK is the leading Province in terms of reform, and in the latest PILDAT report outclassed all the other provinces in terms of governance and reforms. There is a semblance of reform and change in the Province, and the Province continues to outclass both Sindh and Punjab where the ruling Government's have been in power for more than 30 years. That alone is enough for me that PTI has delivered more than PPP and PML-N.

Second, PML-N governance has been horrible if not extremely bad. Debt levels, unemployment levels, cost of living, governance issues, nepotism, and corruption at an all time high. Not a single reform delivered by PML-N despite many promises of having the best economic team. Not to mention, the PM caught with corruption with his pants down in Panama where he can't even provide the money trail for how he bought the apartments. If that's not shameful than what is.

As far as voting trend goes, PTI is dominant in KPK in the entire Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, DI Khan and Kohat belt where majority of MNA and MPA seats are based. In Punjab, PTI is the only alternative to PML-N. Anti PML-N vote is greater than Pro PML-N vote. In the last few by elections, PTI has lost from a margin less than 5k votes. Keep in mind the sitting Government always wins these by elections, but a margin of this much is a win for PTI in General Election. PML-N was loosing from a margin of 20-30k votes from PPP in Punjab during 2008-2013, and during 2002-2008 PML-N was not even in the running for a by election victory.

Bottom Line: PPP and PML-N have always disappointed and engaged in corruption when in power. Time for a new force, the Sharif's are not the King's of Pakistan.
