The political steering committee of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday accorded its consent to the three names proposed for the caretaker premier by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
General Secretary PML-N Zafar Iqbal Jhagra called on his PTI counterpart Dr Arif Alvi and sought the latters approval for the caretaker prime minister.
In its final recommendation, the PML-N suggested two names - Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid and Rasool Bux Palejo for the caretaker premier.
Endorsing the names, the PTI said that both the personalities happen to be neutral and trust worthy. It also gave consent for the former State Bank Governor Dr Ishrat Hussain.
The leader of the opposition in National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali of PML-N had earlier proposed the names of Rasool Bux Palejom, Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid and Justice (retd) Shakirullah Jan, but later withdrew the name of Shakir-ullah Jan.
Election result
PTI Information Secretary Jamal Siddiqui said the intra-party elections continued till midnight and the result would be announced on Saturday (today).
Over 67,000 registered voters were eligible to use their right of franchise.
When asked if casting votes through mobile phones brightened the chances of bogus voting, he said only voters with registered mobile numbers had access to the partys computer system.
Five panels have taken part in the intra-party elections at town and district levels. The panels have fielded their candidates in all the 18 towns and five districts of the city.
The panels are Shaheen Panel, Insaf Panel, Tiger Panel, Mehran Panel, Inqilabi Panel, Nazaryati Panel have registered themselves with the election commissioner.
The Tiger Group, headed by Jenahgir Rehman, has formed an alliance with the Insaf Group, headed by Ashraf Qureshi.
