• network up-gradation project that PTCL is undergoing. Through this multi-billion project, PTCL plans to upgrade its core-network as well the under-ground media for majority of its customers in Pakistan.
  
  PTCL, through this revamp project, will be deploying upgraded copper or even fiber in high-demand areas.
  
  As a result, company is now able to offer up to 100Mbps broadband plans in selected areas for now. However, as more exchanges are revamped, the coverage will stretch across the country.

  So to qualify for these packages, either you’ll have to be in an area where GPON is available or be located in an area where the exchanges have been revamped.

It is a lot of money...Here in Sweden a 100 Mbps unlimited connection costs 150 SEK which is roughly PKR 2000. And mostly 100 Mbps connection is part of the rent.

I myself even think that ~€37pm for 100 mbps is expensive. How many Pakistanis can afford this ?

Over here you can get 1 gigabit (+ tv package and unlimited landline and phone calls) for less or equal to that.

Installation charges are paid for by the ISPs.

Depends if it includes phone line charges.
I pay £34/ month for 36 Mbps fibre optic by EE and it is considered a competitive package, and it includes phone line.

36 mbps..... damn. Are you sure this is real fiber optic ? Is it FTTH ? Have you this cable ?

Or FTTLA,FTTC,FTTP....... (Cables above replaced by coax cables or using existing copper cables)

Make sure they aren't selling you some VDSL or similar sh/t as fiber.

Just for comparison,few days ago I signed for an FTTH provider for €19,99pm for 1 year. That includes minimum speeds of 200 in down (in reality closer to 300) and minimum of 100 in up. That also includes TV channels and unlimited calls to landlines and mobile phones. And the installation will be made with the same cables I posted above.

ISP,s are taxed heavily in Pakistan they dont just absorb the tax like good poodles they transfer it

Lets hope they provide the same service as that of Nayatel

Internet broad-band + mobile + landline + FAX charges are less than 1% of my monthly income and that should be case everywhere unless a person is using business class services

acc. to Norwegian govt, access to internet is among basic human rights in modern day & age. Here in Sweden, we do most of things online using internet, whether it is paying the bills, submitting forms, contacting different services, changing address, and shopping. So without internet and its secure usage you're not able to keep pace with the society. Here even Mosques have their websites which is quite uncommon in Pakistan.
