PSO to provide KESC furnace oil on gas price
Wednesday, November 03, 2010
KARACHI: In a seemingly unbelievable bid to set Karachiites free from menace of unabated power shutdowns, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has shown agreement to provision of furnace oil to Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) on as low as gas prices, Geo News reported.
Sources said PSO has pledged KESC provision of 2,500 tonnes of furnace oil on gas price for the next five days in order to overcome power shortage in metropolis.
While, the difference in the prices of gas and furnace oil would be paid to PSO by Federal Finance Ministry.
It is pertinent to mention here that due to closure of Zamzama Gas Field, Sui Southern Gas Company curtailed provision of gas to KESC, heightening the power shortfall in Karachi.
The decision led to long hours power outages in industrial and commercial areas here.
