Islamabad, January 16, 2018 – The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Ambassador Alice Wells visited Islamabad January 15-16.

In her meetings with Pakistani officials, Ambassador Wells underlined that the United States seeks to move toward a new relationship with Pakistan, based on our mutual interest in realizing a stable and prosperous region. Acknowledging Pakistan’s considerable sacrifices fighting terrorism, Ambassador Wells emphasized that the U.S. South Asia strategy represents an opportunity to work together for the establishment of a stable, peaceful Afghanistan, the defeat of ISIS in South Asia, and the elimination of terrorist groups that threaten both Pakistan and the United States. Ambassador Wells urged the government of Pakistan to address the continuing presence of the Haqqani network and other terrorist groups within its territory.

1) What is the US plan in Afghanistan - 1) occupy the country indefinitely 2) Let Afghans themselves including Talibans sort it out among themselves 3) Leave Afghanistan within a defined timeline?

2) What is the strategic goal and purpose for US to prolong its stay in Afghanistan?

3) Is Afghanistan that important in US strategy that it can not do without it?

Or what? You are going to threat us with more of Trump tweets or block 2 billion more? Pakistan has been an honest partner in WOT and as one american put it, Pakistan has taken out more bad guys than anyone else but what did we get more hate, more bashing, more do more, public condemnation with those tweets and on top of that turning a blind eye to Indian sponsored terrorism. Till now you have seen us as allies, US will understand first hand what lies and deceit means should Pakistan is forced down that route.

Is that a sincere effort? I don' think so.

US foreign policy towards Pakistan lacking in common decency and etiquette? I think so.

Why is Pakistan entertaining low level diplomat nobody? This meeting should have been declined.

Trump needs to go on record and apologize to Pakistan before anything can move forward. This annual Pakistan bashing has to stop.

US is too far gone into India's camp to the point where they are trying to prove India's narrative is clean. It is obviously not. The equality of US perspective towards south asia is gone. Respect for Pakistan is gone.

Pakistan needs to move towards russia and china and create atmosphere of respect and common decency. The era of pakistan bashing has to come to an end if the country is to become developed.
