ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani are reluctant to meet with the British special envoy for Pakistan and Afghanistan Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles who is presently visiting the country, sources told Geo News on Wednesday.

According to sources, the government has expressed its resentment over Pakistani students’ arrest in Britain in the absence of evidence and the ensuing media trial.

The British envoy was to meet the President and Prime Minister but they refused in protest of the above.

Meanwhile, Pakistani High Commissioner in Britain, Wajid Shams-ul-Hasan has said that Lodon should offer an apology to Islamabad.

However, spokesman of British High Commission has said that a request for meeting with President and Prime Minister has been forwarded but there is no information of it being turned down.

Right decision i hope this is done to mark protest and they dont give some other excuse for that.

I agree about the media trial bit. That sort of circus just shows Pakistan in a bad light, when those Pakistanis were innocent. No doubts this will count another 1% to those investigated cases that have a Pakistani link. Other than that, arresting them, questioning them, and releasing them isn't that bad. But it should have been done without the media trial.

We saw how the British handled partition of 1947.
