President of Bangladesh confirms 16 MRCA, 8 attack helicopter and 6 BD built frigates on live TV

. .
Let me play the devil.

Why exactly wouldn’t the US sell F-16s to Bangladesh if A) BD is ready and able to pay and B) The US had publicly stated that it wants to sell weapons to BD and C) The US is attempting to shape its Indo Pacific policy and Bangladesh is one of the larger states in the Indo region and D) BD is going to buy billions in fighters regardless.

Would Uncle Sam rather those bucks go to China Russia or U.K.?

Would love to hear your thoughts.
India

Unless bangladesh wants to put a big order of 36+
Wont sell Used because that would hurt new sales elsewhere

How long is India gonna drag out this F-21 nonsense?

I agree India's position on this has some say.

But that's fine then.

Bangladesh quite honestly, and fortunately has several options it can choose from.

Actually on the contrary. US is pitching f16s as a fighter they can sell to third world countries in the future. Bd, Philippines... you name it.
This is exactly why f16 is out of question now

They can add 4000 hours service life to any old F-16 for 15 million US dollars.
This is a good way to sell these fighters at a profit that they would have otherwise had to scrap as the F-35As are in mass production.
Of course US influence is also a factor in arms sales and hence why they asked BD to buy their weapons.

Idk if the 15 mil price tag on refurbishment is a figure for export customers or only for US

And lastly, there is the F-16. Along with the Ah-64, BAF was also negotiating for fighter jets but no model has been named. BAF would most likely look for F-16 E/F block 60 or F-16V Block 70/72. BAF was previously interested in F-16 in the 1990s but due to security issues, the USA refused to sell the 36 F-16s BAF requested. In recent time, military cooperation between the two countries increased greatly and the US is finally willing to sell BAF its newest F-16 variants. Pictured here are Bangladeshi officials inspecting US fighter jets.
But, F-16V Block 72 planes are very expensive, other variants also. Taiwan bought 66 of this plane each costing $190 million. I wonder if BAF can afford it. The Eurofighters are also very expensive more than 90 million pounds apiece.

Anyway, by the statement of the President of the country, it seems that BAF has already decided which plane will be inducted. Let us see what happens. However, I have my personal opinion that BAF chooses a European fighter. America puts too many conditions on the use of its planes for defense.

For example, the USA may not like its use against India. It wants a BD-India tie up against China which may not suit BD interest in the long run. But, a European fighter can be used against both MM and India in times of necessity.

. . . .
I am betting

J-10CE 60%

European fighter 30%

F-16 10%
This is what internet news says about the engine of J-10CE:

"And recently the domestically produced WS-10A turbofan engine was used to replace AL-31FN from Russia, and the output of this engine was close to one thousand, which further lowered J-10 fighter’s price".

China is fitting a low performance not yet matured WS-10A engines to J-10 fighters. Do you really think it is good for a mainstay frontline plane?

Who says it is not mature? It has been produced for a good 15+ years.

Also, the thrust is pretty much the same as AL-31 if you haven't checked.

Why should China take J-10CE so seriously? And J-10CE hasn't been built yet.
In fact, J-10C is equipped with WS-10B engine, and they are bought by PLAAF, as all of newly-built fighters (maybe just except J-15 now) in China are equipped with WS-10 engines already.
