President Arif Alvi implements ordinance allowing the right to vote to overseas Pakistanis

President Arif Alvi has implemented an amendment in the Election ordinance 2021 which permits voting rights to overseas Pakistanis. The voting process would be carried out by using electronic voting machines (EVMs).

The amendment will ensure that the votes of the overseas Pakistanis would be counted in the next general elections.

The amendment demands the Election Commission Pakistan (ECP) to purchase electronic voting machines (EVMs) well in time, before the general elections for smooth running of the overseas voting process.

The amendments in the ordinance pertaining to the voting rights of the overseas Pakistanis and the use of electronic voting machines (EVMs) was approved by the federal cabinet on May 04.

A cabinet meeting was presided by PM Imran Khan in which the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has been authorized to use EVM, revealed Fawad Chaudhary in a press conference.

The minister further elaborated that the government has appointed a consultant to finalize matters pertaining to the technological aspects such as the biometric and e-voting systems.

Brilliant, I hope it becomes a law after the ordinance expires, no more excuses for corrupt ECP.

Hope they make the proces easy and workable. Last time overseas countrymen could vote but the requirements were ridiculously hard and hindering by design. That's why only a small percentage of overseas countrymen could vote.

This ordinance covers all future elections in Pakistan effective immediately to be with EVMs too. Fake votes stocks of political parties have burnt with EVMs.

Election Commission stopped electronic voting after 2018 general election. Now after this presidential reference it will revive it.

If we don't vote for plundering Nooni's/Zardaris/murdering MQM/"mohajirs" , do you think after our desperate hope and overwhelming support for IK's ideology and then his subsequent performance and corrupt cabinet that the majority of us even have an iota of interest in the Politics of Pakistan : think again..

-- Current system gone, Full Danda mode, constitution, judiciary, parliament will be irrelevant (plausible, demand of general public middle/lower class)

-- Stalemate for another 5 years. (Choice of all Sarkari Mulazims, more money, more fun)
