Prayer leader jailed for five years over hate speech

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court sentenced on Tuesday a prayer leader of Kasur to five years in jail for delivering a hate speech at a public gathering.

A case under Section 9 of the Anti-Terrorism Act had been registered against Qari Abubakar at Kot Radha Kishan police station on a complaint lodged by a sub-inspector.

According to the prosecution, the prayer leader was inciting people against a particular religious sect and he was arrested on the spot.

The prosecution also produced before the court the video recording of the speech.

The accused denied the charge and took the plea that he did not attend the gathering. The defence counsel accused police of implicating his client in a fabricated case and requested the court to acquit him.

After going through the case, Judge Haroon Latif sentenced the cleric to five-year term. According to an official, 21 people have been convicted this year of delivering hate speeches. Some of them had been jailed for up to eight years. Two of them are from Lahore.

Looks like this poor lone fellow did not have enough money to offer to Fazal-the-hypocrite or other big contractors of Islam otherwise he would have never been sentenced. They cant even make those Madrassas take fatwa of kufr against Shia Muslims off their websites, and they'll fix things. I have no idea in what kind of delusions are we living in. I am not talking about any Tom Dick and Harry -type madrassa but Sami-ul-Haq's Dar-ul-uloom Akaora Khatak, and Jami Naeemia -type madrassas.

Pakistani imam jailed for five years for anti-Shia sermons

LAHORE: A court in Pakistan has jailed an Imam or prayer leader for five years for inciting hate against a rival sect, officials said Wednesday.

Maulana Abubakar a prayer leader was arrested in February in Kasur district, Punjab, some 50 kilometres south of Lahore, for making a speech against the rival minority Shia sect, a prosecutor told AFP.

“The judge of an anti-terrorism court on Tuesday sentenced the Imam to serve five years in prison for [giving a] hate speech,” the prosecutor said on condition of anonymity.

“The Imam was found guilty of inciting hatred against Shia [people] and raised slogans during his sermon that Shias were infidels,” he said.

The official said that under Pakistan’s National Action Plan against terrorism, authorities have arrested many prayer leaders and courts have sent them to prison over hate speech charges.

The official said he could not give the number of convictions as data was still being compiled about the cases.

Shaikh Saeed Ahmed, a Lahore district prosecutor, confirmed the conviction and sentence awarded to the Imam.

Sectarian violence has claimed thousands of lives in the country over the past decade.

In the latest bloodshed, 44 Shias were massacred in Karachi last week, in the first attack claimed by the Islamic State group in the country.

The National Action Plan against terrorism, which involved the outlawing of militant groups, registration of seminaries and crackdown on hate speech, was announced in the wake of a Taliban massacre that killed 154 people, mostly schoolchildren, in December.

Pakistan also lifted a six-year moratorium on the death penalty and announced the establishment of military courts in the case of terrorist offences.

This problem can be solved easily. You need mullahs for few specific jobs that include:

- leading prayer
- Friday sermon
- conducting Nikah
- occational speeches

for this, appoint people under the ministry of religious affairs. Only these will have the authority to use the mike of that place. This will produce jobs and right person for that important post.

how many billions of dollars we are spending to end terrorism but anybody think where they grow, who feed them what route causes behind them and why only unique type of incidents happens in pakistan only, these are just accedents or part of games played by enemies of pakistan. nobody think to end its route causes everybody is happy with army, ranger and police opperations although these actions are good but this is not permanent solution of this cancer results are in front of us thousands of martyrs of Army men and people of pakistan. my point of view question, suggestion and request is that govt first collect all data of whole country Mosque's, select educated local Hifaz E Kram and put them as registered molvi of each Mosque make them responsible to teach Quran E Pak to community childern according to one united Aloma Council consists of all sects of pakistani and Every friday Khuttba and Biyan they provide to all Hifaz and Molvis accros the pakistan and every Hafiz and Molvi should make them responsible to follow it and all Hifaz E kram and Molvis they teach new generation Islam not, Sunni, Shia, Deoband or Brailvi.. Because defination of Muslim in Quran is given as Moomen just see surah al Moomenoon ( not shia, sunni, deobandi or brailvi.) Every muslim want to go to Paradiese but no one is not giving or teaching right way of Islam to its new generation every sects of molvis they are teachings only thier sects thoughts. we are spending billions of rupees on formal education, security etc but nobody is thinking which Mosque my child is going for learning Quran and Sunnah the available molvi what he is teaching there.. what he is putting in the minds of unmatured childern minds. when he grow up then what he called as sunni, shia, deobandi. no one will not say i am a Muslim follower of Allah. please save new generations from going to terrorest paradise or Allah Hell in the day of judgment. if today no system to be applied for making new pakistani generation a one muslim then our future is very dark when all these sects of sunni,shia, deobandi, brailvi will clashed with each other, trailer of that dark film we are watching right now..now its a time choice whether we make pakistan leading muslim country by applying some rules and laws or wait to die like piggens when these millions of pakistani with different sect start killing each other saying that you are a kafir and we are muslim.
