Prabhakaran's mother arrives in India, immediately deported to Malaysia

Slain LTTE chief V Prabhakaran's ailing mother, Parvati, who arrived tonight from Malaysia was deported immediately as the Central government did not give permission for her stay in India, police said here.

Parvati, who was supposed to get admitted to a hospital here, arrived from Kuala Lumpur but policemen did not permit her to alight from the aircraft, officials said.

Elaborate security arrangements were made and suburban police commissioner, Jahangir, was himself present to oversee matters as there was a crowd of over 150 persons including MDMK general secretary Vaiko and Tamil nationalist movement leader P Neduraman, both vocal supporters of the proscribed LTTE, at the airport.

On May 18, 2009, the Sri Lankan government announced Prabhakaran had been killed while trying to escape advancing army troops in the north of the country.

Sri Lanka Successfully Established the Pro-Sri Lanka Lobby (Influence) in New Delhi, India. I am happy India listening to Sri Lanka’s concerns.

So are we.

We never supported LTTE (After they started terrorizing), it was only some Tamilians who had sentiments for them.

You still need Tamil Nadu's sign off... India can go in one directions, Tamil Nadu another.

I will not agree completely on this. Even though there is a lot of sentiment for the plight of Sri Lankan Tamils, the LTTE is disliked by many Tamilians for their means. They are also disliked for hijacking the "Tamil Cause" by assassinating moderate Tamil leaders who wanted to negotiate with the Lankan government. In any case, parties like the DMK had stopped endorsing the LTTE publicly after Rajiv Gandhi's assassination.

While I am not sure how deporting his mother would help, India should use the diplomatic channel to work with the SL government and help improve the plights of Tamilians there.

I expect some sound bytes in the TN assembly but nothing much more.

Well there would be always difference of opinion between centre and the state.. no big deal.. as some is trying to make it out. But i personally feel that prabbhakrans mother should not have deported, as she was here on medical grounds and we cant hold his mother responsible for the evil deeds of her son..!!!
