Apart from all the rhetoric, time has come to move on and bid farewell to F-16. Pakistan has to accept that in the future American procurements are less likely. The Americans are only selling a handful of F-16s due to political influence. Also, the Americans have nothing on offer beyond the F-16 which eventually are going to be phased out sooner rather than later.
On the other hand, it is a well established fact that Pakistan's future procurements are more likely from Russia and China. It would be wiser to spend focus and resources on platforms which are going to serve us in the long term. American acquisitions are short term or stopgap measures at best. 8 F-16s aren't worth the hassle. At this stage, Pakistan would do much better on concentrating on the latest build of JF-17 which easily rivals the outdated F-16s offered by the Americans. At this point and time, this money would be better spent during the acquisition of a 5th gen platform from China. Additionally, these F-16s are truly expensive, highly insignifant in numbers and don't add any substantial firepower to the existing arsenal. In short, this purchase offered by the Americans doesn't make much sense.
This sale clearly benefits the Americans as they are seeking more political clout and favors. They will get more political clout through the sale of 8 meager F-16s.
