Islamabad- Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf today expressed their sympathies with MQM workers over recent development in London.
Former President and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has demanded justice for MQM chief Altaf Hussain. In a statement, Zardari said Altaf Hussain was leading a major political party of the country. He urged the British authorities to provide a free and fair trail to Altaf Hussain.
PPP leader and opposition leader in the National Assembly, Khursheed Shah urged the MQM workers to remain peaceful amid its chief arrest in London over money laundering. Shah said that PPP and MQM are allies in Sindh government and stand by each other in hard times. He called upon federal government to contact British authorities to raise the issue on official level.
PPP leader said Nawaz Sharif himself should talk to his British counterpart over the issue. He said MQM is key party of mainstream politics in the country and the arrest of its chief has created panic among the workers. “Altaf Hussain’s arrest could result in negative impact in national politic arena,” Shah concluded. On other hand, Altaf Hussain’s critic Imran Khan has said that despite having political differences with MQM, his sympathies and thoughts were with its workers. However, PTI chief said his stance on MQM would remain same as previous.
