LODHRAN: Polling for by-election in National Assembly constituency NA-154 Lodhran will be held on Monday (today), after the seat fell vacant in the wake of disqualification of Jahangir Tareen by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The Supreme Court, in its judgment in December 2017, had said that Tareen had pleaded guilty to insider trading and ruled that he cannot be termed honest and stands disqualified for life as per Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution.

The polling process will start at 8am in the morning and last until 5pm, for which election material has already been transported to respective polling stations.
In total, 338 polling stations have been set up in the constituency, whereat 431,002 voters will exercise their right to vote. In order to ensure free and fair conduct of the by-election, 4000 police and military personnel (2000 each) will discharge security duties in the constituency.
Ten candidates have been contesting the by-polls, including the ones from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Peoples Party.
