A majority again rate China as world's leading economic power

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Despite the announcement of historic reforms late last year that would shift China's economy to a more consumer-driven model, Americans still see China in the same, mostly unfavorable, way they did in early 2013. Forty-three percent of U.S. adults say they have a very or mostly favorable opinion of China, while 53% see it very or mostly unfavorably.

These results come from the Feb. 6-9 Gallup World Affairs poll.

Most analysts expect China to be the United States' foremost strategic and economic rival in the decades to come. That is a dramatic shift from 1979, the first year Gallup asked this question, when China's GDP was not even one-tenth of U.S. GDP. That year, 64% of Americans saw China favorably.

It is irrelevant what citizens of USA think who is their biggest enemy.
China and USA arent enemies....They are RIVALS.
Like USA-USSR or USA-Russia....Superpowers cant be enemies to each other becouse they carry responsibility for global security.Russia-Georgia,China-Japan,USA-Iraq they was/is enemies.
Simply to say They compete for World influence, they are to big and important to be enemies.

This sums up it perfectly.

When we are weak, they like us.

When we are strong, they hate us.

Back in 1971, America was rushing head over heels to ally with China, despite the fact that we were fully Communist back then.

Today, we have a market economy, yet they hate us. It's actually nothing about ideology, it has everything to do with relative strength.

Back then we were weak, now we are becoming stronger.

Americans always seem to hate countries who are a threat to them, i do not blame the people in most cases though i just blame the fear mongrel media that scare the average Joe in there.

BRAVO~!

I think it's some kind of praise for 2014_China from American ppl. China must be developing well as a respectful rival, don't let U.S feel disappointed.
