PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday said that political decisions should be made in the parliament, not at the General Headquarters (GHQ).
Maryam, who was at the Islamabad High Court for a hearing of an appeal against her conviction in the Avenfield property reference, was responding to a question from a reporter about Army Chief Gen Qamar Bajwa and head of the ISI Lt Gen Faiz Hameed's meeting with key opposition figures.

"I don't know about a dinner, maybe it was not a dinner [but] I heard about the meeting. From what I understand it was called to discuss Gilgit-Baltistan which is a political issue, an issue of the people's representatives, for them to solve and deliberate upon.

"These decisions should be made in parliament, not in GHQ," she said.

When asked whether former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif was aware of the meeting, she said: "I don't know whether he was aware of [the meeting] or if he learnt of it later.

"But the political leadership should not be called nor should it go to discuss such issues. Whoever wishes to discuss these issues should come to the parliament."
Earlier in the week, it emerged that the army chief and the head of the ISI had held a meeting with key opposition figures before their multiparty conference and counselled them to refrain from dragging the military into political issues.

The September 16 meeting was attended by about 15 opposition figures including Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Jamaat-i-Islami emir Sirajul Haq, ANP’s Amir Haider Hoti, JUI-F’s Asad Mahmood, PML-N leaders Khawaja Asif and Ahsan Iqbal, PPP’s Senator Sherry Rehman and a few government ministers.

Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid, while confirming the meeting and its participants in a conversation with Dawn, had said the meeting was held to discuss the impending changes in the constitutional status of Gilgit-Baltistan.

However, the opposition had used this opportunity to flag its concerns about other matters, especially the military’s alleged interference in politics and allegations of persecution of its leaders on the pretext of accountability.

The timing of the meeting and its disclosure was linked by the onlookers to the opposition’s multiparty conference held on Sep 20 in which Nawaz had bitterly criticised the Army, saying there was “a state above the state in the country”.

Rashid had said the army chief clearly told the participants of the meeting that the Army was not in any manner linked to the political processes and had no involvement in matters concerning election reforms and accountability.

The army chief, however, had said the military only responds to calls for assistance by the elected civilian government and it would continue doing so irrespective of who is in office.
Gen Bajwa had reportedly categorically conveyed that no one would be allowed to create chaos in the country.

She is talking again, why?

And as for Parliament what decision has it taken for people of Pakistan?

Have this so called "opposition" ever spoke about Indian oppression on Kashmiri's?

Have these looters ever asked IK Govt to reduce Petrol prices for general public?

Have these jerks ever cared and raised their voice to bring down basic grocery items prices by IK Govt?

Do they ever care about energy/power outages and energy shortfall, which as per their tall claims supposed to be vanished in 2018?

Answer of ALL ABOVE IS big and stinky NO ...

Heck these traitors were doing their shitty politics on FATA bill, which was cleared t the end of the day as some of their members opted to stay out of voting process, which tells me that all their members are not rotten to core like their core leadership. And this devils advocate have guts to still come out and talk about parliament, which they have used only for their own advantages - this parliament BS is enough, neither people are fool nor naive to believe this crap anymore.

And as for GHQ, same GHQ brought them in power, Nawaz traitor by the help of same establishment, however, now these fuckers are pointing fingers and bad mouthing about their own Army - this shows how desperate they are for power and only carrying forward Intl establishment's agenda by targeting Pakistani Army and institutes.

Keep crying cuz nobody gives two hoots about what you say or do.

I can guess that since a plan failed, a personal gain plan I say, there comes the twist, manipulation, defamation & dis-information warfare to misguide public. I am sure the masses knows that how many of them been visiting GHQ in nights & tried their best for some sort of deal but had the cold shoulder. None of them told anything or even spoke about such a meeting until, their foul mouthing warranted to expose them by ISPR. These looters have enjoyed a lot and people of Pakistan knows that the subject GB is not a parliament discussion issue alone. I bet if any of them looters will ever sacrifice a single drop of corrupt blood for the nation on front lines. Since the enemy game plans have failed and an enemy with the gun is defeated; there comes the enemy with disinformation warfare. I pray that may the people of Pakistan understand their schemes & anti Pakistan plans sugar coated in the name of democracy & politics. Since these looters & corrupts are exposed, they now uses the Parliament & Democracy reference to hide. Either PMLN, PPPP, PTI or any other party, make no mistake because it is "Now or Never".

@Jungibaaz
JungJoo bhai: Ye larki roti ko chochi kehti hai? She can find Arshad Maliks compromised videos but is unaware of her Party officials and so many other politicians meeting Army leadership? Nawaz Sharif forgot to mention this in his declaration of democracy and independence speech in APC.

Like I had said before the slogans are very nobel: democracy and rule of law. They have raised these many times before, but once they get power the exact opposite happens. The issue is not these ideals - its the people preaching these ideals who are just morally and financially compromised, and sadly do not have the integrity, honesty or even the intention for these goals.

@Jungibaaz will twist and present again that Nawaz has emerged as a leader taking on the establishment, despite the fact that his stooge Zubair Umar meet COAS and ISI chief twice in last one month to ask relief for Nawaz and Maryam.

Vote ko izzat do, hamaray cases band karao ...

No representative of Nawaz Sharif met COAS, claims Maryam Nawaz

The Frontier Post
September 23, 2020

ISLAMABAD: PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz has said that political issues should be discussed in Parliament and not at GHQ.

She said this on Wednesday while talking to news channel, Maryam trashed reports that any representative of PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif had met Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Earlier, Sheikh Rashid claimed that Nawaz Sharif’s representatives had met the Army Chief before the parliamentary leaders’ meeting with General Bajwa.

Maryam Nawaz was talking to local news channel denied any such one-on-one meeting between the Nawaz Sharif’s representative with the Army Chief.

Maryam Nawaz clarified and refuted the claims made by Sheikh Rashid, who said there were actually two meetings held between General Qamar Javed Bajwa and PML-N leaders.

While talking to local news channel, Sheikh Rashid said, “I am saying the PML-N leaders had met the army leadership twice.” However, Sheikh Rasheed said, “I am not responsible for what others are saying.
“I am saying two meetings took place.” Responding to a question, Maryam Nawaz said, “Political decisions should be made in the parliament, and not at GHQ.”

The PML-N Vice-President remarked that the political leadership should not have gone for a meeting {with the Army Chief}. Maryam said she had no knowledge about the dinner but yes there was a meeting on the Gilgit Baltistan. “Gilgit Baltistan is a political issue.

It’s an issue for the political representatives. It should be discussed in parliament.” On the other hand, PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal said, “I and Khawaja Asif did not have any one-on-one meeting with Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.” To a question did Nawaz Sharif send a representative to meet the Army Chief? Ahsan Iqbal replied, “I have no knowledge of the meeting between the Army Chief and Nawaz Sharif’s representative.”

When asked about possible arrests of PML-N activists, Maryam said “There will no going back now.

Whatever the APC had decided it would be followed in letter and spirit. We are not afraid of arrests or any other tactics.”

DG ISPR confirms PML-N leader’s meetings with Gen Qamar over Nawaz, Maryam issue

Army chief told Mohammad Zubair that legal issues would get resolved in courts, says Maj-Gen Babar Iftikhar

The Pakistan Army's spokesperson has confirmed that two meetings took place between Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Mohammad Zubair "on the latter's request".

In an interview with a private new channel on Thursday, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar said that matters in relation with PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz were discussed during the meetings.

He said that the first meeting took place in the last week of August and the second on September 7.
The DG ISPR said that General Qamar told Zubair that legal issues would get resolved in courts while political matters in parliament and “the army should be not be dragged into these matters”.

Maj-Gen Iftikhar said that DG ISI Lt-Gen Faiz Hameed was also present in one of the two meetings.

Later, in another interview, Mohammad Zubair, clarified that Maryam was not aware of these meeting, saying that he had met COAS on "personal capacity". He, however, said that he informed Maryam about the development after the meetings.

Zubair, the former Sindh governor, said that he has relations with General Qamar for more than 40 years. "Some political topics were discussed during the meetings."

The PML-N leader said that he did not seek any relief for Nawaz or Maryam during the meetings.

Earlier today, Maryam Nawaz, responding to a question outside the Islamabad High Court where she had a hearing of her appeal against her conviction in the Avenfield property reference, had said that she was not aware of "any dinner at the GHQ".

“Perhaps it wasn’t dinner. What I’ve heard is that the meeting was convened to discuss the Gilgit-Baltistan [election] issue,” she added.

“It is a political issue… an issue of people's representatives… and it’s for them to solve with consultation and deliberation. Such decisions should be taken in parliament, not in GHQ,” Maryam said.

Asked if the PML-N leaders had Nawaz’s blessings for participation in the meeting, she denied having any knowledge of that. However, she said that “the political leadership should not be called nor should it go to discuss such issues”.

Maryam Nawaz is a vice-president of the PML-N. And her statement shows she was neither on board nor privy to the PML-N’s participation in the GHQ meeting. But if the federal railways minister is to be believed it was not the first time PML-N leaders had met with the military leadership.

On Tuesday, Sheikh Rashid had claimed that the PML-N leaders had had two meetings with the military leadership in many months. Chaudhry Ahsan Iqbal attended both the meetings, he claimed, though Ahsan was quick to brush aside the claim as a “lie”.
