Five Polish soldiers were killed in Afghanistan in what was the single biggest attack on Polish forces since their deployment in the country, Polish media reported.

A spokesman for the governor of Ghazni province said the soldiers were killed by a mine. Ghazni province lies southwest of the Afghan capital.

It was one of "the most tragic events" in the country's mission so far, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the Ghazni attack in a text message sent to journalists.

Poland has about 2,500 soldiers in Afghanistan as part of the US-led mission, which it joined in 2002.

The latest attack raised Poland's overall death toll in Afghanistan to 36.

This is the problem with 'fighting and talking' at the same time ...

But how can we expect anything but such absurdities out of the US leadership ...

RIP to the dead, Polish are a very resilient and proud race, and if you read more about how they fought the Germans despite the devastating setbacks in the beginning then you will only have praise for them.

It’s a shame so many nations are obliged to fight Uncle Sam’s war although they have no interest here.
There was a chance back in 2 May11 when Obama could have declared victory after taking out OBL and announcing withdrawal by this year and ceasefire with Taliban

But whoever is in charge of the America’s continued war on the world has no interest in returning its troops back home. If humiliating and alienating Pakistan wasn’t enough it sends strange signals by continuing to fight the Taliban and saying they are not our enemy. I think other countries should start recalling their troops on the bases that American VP now says that Taliban are not the enemy, the public should ask then why on earth you continue with this madness?

Another cowardly act by the Taliban, attacking ISAF soldiers with roadside IEDs. Five Polish solders lost their lives while on security patrol in Ghazni province. The Taliban spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed responsibility in a text message to AFP.

Taliban have been attacking innocent civilians as well as ISAF forces. Their IEDs have killed thousands of civilians over the years. The United States has a commitment to the Afghan nation that by the time they leave a vibrant and trained Afghan Security Force will be there to protect the rights and freedom of the Afghan Nation. They have already started taking an active role in their nation’s security. Afghans love peace, and it can only be fully restored once the menace of terrorism is eliminated from the region.
