Police training centre: K-P govt approves Rs773.84m
To address the deteriorating security environment, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government has approved a joint police training center in Nowshera, according to a press release issued by the K-P Home and Tribal Affairs department on Wednesday.
According to the notification, Rs773.842 million has been allocated for this purpose and another Rs400 million to fight militancy. Separate funds have been allocated to form a new department to counter terrorism and to purchase 300 GSM and 10 explosive detectors, 2 GSM locators, 25 metal detectors, 25 non-metal detectors, 16 short-range jammers and 100 computers. “1,760 new posts, canine units and sniffer dogs for bomb and explosive detection will also be purchased to thwart terror attempts,” read the notification, quoting Secretary Home Syed Akhtar Ali Shah.
