Should Police be allowed to flag march and drive in convoys for non-genuine reasons?

Why is it that Pakistani Police find the need to put national assets in a convoy and drive around for the banter.
The video below is of Lahore (Punjab Police) and it shows several tens of cars putting on a light and car show in the middle of the night; I think most of the Pakistani's on PDF know that Punjab Police does not have proper funding. Giving an example of someone I know; He is fighting a major case against 2-3 people for a major crime that took place and every time the police wants to raid a location they ask for petrol money, etc; yet somehow Pubjab Police has the cash to waste national assets and cost of running these vehicles when the can't be bothered to put petrol in their vehicles when its for a genuine reason.

Well that doesn't look like a large convoy. Its actually good to if police do this once in a while, keep the morale up of police personnel even after poor salaries and equipment.

Also more like a show of strength to the criminals like Chotu gang.

I understand your point but what I don't understand is that they petrol to waste for convoys but when it come to real work they tell the locals we can't go and raid because we can't afford to fill up our gas tanks. The SP of Punjab Police said the kidnapping of a few 100 children was not a big deal because they wanted to run away from home. I mean what the hell...

Well policing is like this in almost every developing country, Pakistan is no exception. However with time things go well.

The main weapon of policing and law and order agencies is not investigation or catching thieves earlier than expected but the terror of what if they get caught. The prevention is bigger deterrence in maintaining peace than actually catching the criminals (well its significant too, but first one prevents crime, second one deliver justice).

Flag Marchs are generally conducted just before any important even to show preparedness. I am not sure but this one was supposedly with regards to Ashura procession I guess.

Waste of tax payers money (the few that actually pay)...

This was most likely a convoy headed to protect Shia Mourners.
I don't think so, the last two videos are from a couple of months back whilst the top video is of yesterday.
