ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday rejected the candidates of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for the Senate elections following the Supreme Court’s verdict in Elections Act case, making ousted premier Nawaz Sharif ineligible to run the party.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday declared all PML-N nominees for the upcoming Senate election independent candidates, DawnNews reported.

The decision was taken in the aftermath of the Supreme Court verdict on Wednesday, which removed Nawaz Sharif from his post as party head and nullified all official party decisions he took following the July 28, 2017, Panama Papers judgment.

i think, that may be the case, plus yesterday after court's decision Rana Sana was also saying this, that PMLN's candidate will take part independent then afterwards join PMLN in senate... but lets c..

Question is will they get the same support as being a PML candidate? Having said that PML machinery will off course be supporting them.

The anti judiciary/establishment attitude which Nawaz and his daughter has adopted speaks for itself, it seems they want confrontation, it seems he and his daughter want to be handcuffed publicly and go to jail in order to play a victim card, thats old politics u know, exploiting the conservative society of Pakistan, most of the time it works, but this time the nature of cases is different, so now that strategy works or not, only future will tell..

Question is will they get the same support as being a PML candidate? Having said that PML machinery will off course be supporting them.

yes it seems that support will be weak their position will be weak plus PMLN's chances to get better majority in senate will decrease it seems...

Victim? Why did they change the law to put a disqualified PM as party head? No it was intentional and they got what they deserved

Not to burst your bubble, but someone you dearly love and support was also behind the passing of this law - because during those days, he too suspected that he would be found to be not be sadiq and amin.

He was not. In fact he scolded pti senate members who didn't vote against it due to absence. Later PTI and others went to SC against it

In my humble opinion Pak society is not politically mature enough to understand all this, plus the lead they took against PTI in recent election clearly indicates that they are so far successful in using the victim card...
