PM reviews proposed plans of Bundal Island Karachi, New Blue Area Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan Monday chaired a meeting to review proposed development plans of Bundal Island Karachi and New Blue Area Islamabad.

A detailed plan of prospective developments of areas around the city of Karachi and the islands falling within the jurisdiction of Port Qasim came under discussion.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Board of Investment Chairman Zubair Gilani, Naya Pakistan Housing Authority Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Anwar Ali Hyder and other senior officers.

A phased development plan was presented to the prime minister, which would be undertaken for providing quality housing and better opportunities to those ready to invest in Pakistan, PM Office Media Wing in a press release said.

The development of Blue Area was also discussed in detail. The discussion centered around offering incentives for bringing in foreign investors to develop areas that remained under-utilized and to concentrate more on high-rise buildings to address the lateral spread of the capital city.

The prime minister while commenting on the proposals said their priority should be to build high rises to address the housing needs of the growing population of the city. In that regard, he added, improvements in facilitation for the foreign investors were required.

Federal government need to sell Bundal Island to army, make it extention of DHA Karachi. In fact reclaim as much land as possible and merge with DHA Karachi. And then move on to reclaiming Buddo Island.

No way, this area is full of mangroves and an amazing eco-system which needs to be preserved

May be... to be honest i can't confirm. It was an island off coast and project was sabotaged by a nomad lady. This was the situation of weak regime of Musharraf, where every one was busy black mailing him. Mukhtran Mai and Imran Khan were some other examples.

Should have given comission to Zardari like Malik Riaz.

I think it was international game, with support of democracy lovers of Pakistan.
Whole object their was removal of Musharraf, and we all know the most vocal and violent party, who were paid due reward.

May be... to be honest i can't confirm. It was an island off coast and project was sabotaged by a nomad lady. This was the situation of weak regime of Musharraf, where every one was busy black mailing him. Mukhtran Mai and Imran Khan were some other examples.

All i remember was that there was plans of developing Baba Island and Bhit Island into some 5 star resorts and move all the fishermen away but it was blocked or plans were scrapped.

I have a huge grievance with Mushy, he had a golden opportunity to cleanse Pakistan of all the traitors and corrupts, he instead decided to join them.

Rather than invest in an Island right on the coast (especially because Karachi already has beaches that can be invested into) why not invest in a hill station near the Hub dam, just north of Karachi or at a location just further north that reach an elevation of 1000 meters and may offer an escape from the summer heat. (Latitude 25.578711 and Longitude 67.154408, check it out)

With a Wildlife Sanctuary nearby, and water from the Dam that can used to support a tree planting initiative in the area, The people of Karachi can have a mini Murree just over an Hour's drive away with proper road infrastructure.

The Hub Dam is also a more central location for people from other parts of the region, and will incentive investment in that part of Baluchistan

I think bluearea in Islamabad will destroy its beauty as there is alot of green belt at that place and is habitat of many birds.Also it is a source of fresh air to houses facing this area and give a very beautiful view of margalla hills to residents of houses but after construction of buildings this beauty will be lost.It is better to properly maintain such green belts and grow some beautiful plants at such pieces of land

I remember back in 2005 (my last visit to Pakistan) when we landed in Islamabad airport, there was 2 very long rows of white people in coats, and one row for us Pakistanis.. having to look back now.. they were obviously there for climbing mountains.. which just shows how we failed as tourist destination.. when most tourists who visit India do so primarily for the 'culture' yet Lahore was supposed to be the cultural capital of the region having being influential during spanning of many empires. In light of the new GOP plans the bundle and potentially the buddo island could be a potential tourist hotspots for Karachi if it is managed properly and able to imitate just a fraction of what Dubai was able to achieve.. although I find it quite ironic how Karachi the so called 'city of lights' failed to become a tourist hub...

How about they build houses and buildings on the plot they already have. It's been nothing but streets for years now.
