PM orders setting up of National Curriculum Council

We also require a policy of industrialisation in same time.

What will bring education if there is no job oppurtinities ? What will be our exports if there is no industrials planning/policies ?

We should devise an industrial policie and make sure that education will bring the knowledge, the skills required.

That will create the desire for studies among all young pakistanis, that's will help to launch national industries and then why not exports of manufactured products.

The three point agenda guarantees you will have an export based economy that will induct your graduates. Insha Allah.

Power would be a by product of focusing on exports. You can't increase exports without solving the power crisis.
actually, if we look at this way, the only thing required in MONEY. They are all interconnected!!
For education you need money, to increase exports you need power, for power you need money.

So i guess bringing in foreign investments will be a good start. To do that, we do not need money but will have to correct our foreign policy and get things in line with our own national interest!!

If you are talking FDI, then investors will be looking for returns that will flow out of the country. We need to look at the models of progress around the world. Were they all based on FDI? Possibly the only example is India and the outsourced services it caters for. Otherwise, China, South Korea, Germany, all started from scratch after World War 2. To go the India route, we have already seen the outcomes from Musharraf's policies. Bend over backwards to cater Western whims. Allow an anti-Pakistan government in Afghanistan, hand over nukes, become the next Bangladesh. We need to understand that we don't have much of a place in the American World Order. So, in the absence of money, we need to follow the long and hard way.

But dont you agree that for all these things we do not money!!
Exports, education, everything!!

I mean, i am in export business. I know how hard it is getting with lower cost of business in competitor countries, cheaper energy, subsidies etc. It is hard. On other hand, our gov. cannot really afford to give subsidy right now neither i see any mega cheap electricity projects.

Well, we have a balance of payments deficit, 10 billion dollars of which is owed to China. The real issue is, what do we export to China which is the biggest exporter to the world? We had our best opportunity during their export expo, and the Prime Minister of Pakistan handed the Chinese president a FOOTBALL!!!! How many people play football in China? I mean, if he had handed him a Sherwani then we could say we are trying to introduce a new fashion to China. Imagine an all China marketing campaign showing people various styles of Sherwani for men and Kurta Shalwar for women. They lost this opportunity through sheer incompetence.

So this leaves the really, really hard way out. IMF loans, plus restrictive conditions, and work our way out. This means fiscal discipline, and utilizing very limited resources for max benefit. And that max benefit will come from education. In today's world, you cannot compete without education. The days of exporting cheap labor are over. Countries now require skilled labor. You need modern methods and techniques to compete. All of this banks on education.

The only other recourse is somehow retrieving the looted wealth from foreign countries.

I hope you dont mind me saying this but "you disagree with PM handing them a football questioning how many people in China play football but you go on to say that he could have introduced a Sherwani :P :D"

Anyway, i understand what you are saying. I am saying the same thing i guess, we need to up the exports. Find products that we can export, introduce value addition in agriculture products (which have huge potential). Talking about China, we can export millions of dollars worth fruits, meat etc. The problem is, someone need to realize all this and start working to make it happen.

e learning should be increased it is less expensive and easy for students and can be done in very short time.Govt should introduce supplementary short e learning online courses to improve students thinking and innovation skills

People like to try new fashions. Sherwani has an exotic appeal to it.

We should be looking to introduce processed foods to Chinese market. Imagine opening a pizza hut with chicken tikka pizza on the menu for which chicken is sent from Pakistan. There are so many other avenues. His charisma would be real if he could make this happen. But him and his team have been found to be lacking in imagination and pathetic in interaction. The Saudi conference and Chinese conference are both disasters.

I think that we will see results (or be sure about the lack of it) in a few months. Its too early to say anything. I hope for a more aggressive and visionary approach towards increase exports instead of the usual subsidies and stuff!!
