PM Sharif approves ‘Pur Aman Balochistan’ plan
QUETTA: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Thursday chaired a high level meeting here to review the progress on development projects and security situation in Balochistan province.
The meeting was attended by Governor Balochistan Mohammad Khan Achakzai, Chief Minister Balochistan Abdul Malik Baloch, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and senior civil and military authorities, said a PM House press release.
The Prime Minister was given a comprehensive briefing on the latest security situation and initiatives taken by the federal, provincial governments, armed forces and authorities of law enforcement agencies to engage the people of Balochistan for improving social and political milieu of the province.
The meeting was also briefed about the development projects including the ones inaugurated by the Prime Minister on his arrival at the Governor House.
The meeting agreed to provide full security to the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects in Balochistan.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that Balochistan was the cornerstone of future development of Pakistan and would be the principal beneficiary of the CPEC projects.
The Prime Minister said the infrastructure and communication network would be planned and executed for utilization of the potential of resources of Balochistan. Moreover, Gwadar Port would be connected by rail and road links with Central Asian States, he added.
The Prime Minister directed to prepare strategy for building Gwadar Port City and Gwadar Port as economic hub and attraction for investment.
He directed the authorities concerned to reach out to the people of Balochistan to make them partners in the development process. He also appreciated the measures being taken by the provincial government in this regard.
The Prime Minister approved the “Pur Aman Balochistan” plan for bringing back the angry Balochs into the national mainstream.
Prime Minister Sharif expressed satisfaction over the consensus among all the stakeholders on national issues and said that it would take the country forward.
He further said that economic turnaround of Pakistan was being acknowledged by the world financial bodies and that they were ready to work together with Pakistan.
The Prime Minister directed the provincial government to keep the momentum of good work for the betterment of the people of Balochistan.
Federal Minister for Interior, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Federal Minister for SAFRON, Lt. General (Retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch also accompanied the Prime Minister during the visit and attended the high level meeting. –APP
