PM Khan, Chinese President Xi Jinping discuss bilateral ties, regional situation

Prime Minister Imran Khan met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing during his three-day official to China.

The two leaders exchanged views about bilateral ties, regional situation and matters of mutual interests.

The premier also expected to meet with Chairman of the National People's Congress today.

Meanwhile, he will also attend the closing ceremony of Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition 2019.

A day earlier, PM Imran met Chinese Premier Li Keqiang at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, discussed the bilateral relations between two countries to strengthen bilateral economic partnership.

During the meeting, Pakistan and China, have inked a number of agreements Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).

Both leaders agreed to strengthen socio-economic ties.

China’s support for Pakistan’s issues of core national interest, an official press release said.

PM Imran said the completion of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects was the foremost priority of his government.

Premier Li was also informed the actions undertaken recently to fast-track CPEC projects and to push the development momentum in Gawadar.

A day earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had arrived in Beijing in wee hours of Tuesday on a two-day official visit wherein he will discuss the regional and bilateral relations with Chinese leadership.

Upon arrival in Beijing, the premier was received by Chinese Minister of Culture and Tourism Luo Shugang.

Pakistan's ambassador to China Naghmana Hashmi and other officials were also present at airport to receive PM Imran.

PM Imran Khan is accompanied by a high-level delegation including the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Khusro Bakhtiyar, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razzaq Dawood, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Petroleum Nadeem Babar, Board of Investment (BoI) Chairman Zubair Gilani and senior officials.
