Travelling is one of my passions and understanding different cultures. It is always an interesting conversation to have on different places one has visited and how those experiences were.

Please share:

1. Cities/Countries you've lived in (i.e. have/had a long residence)
2. Cities/Countries you've visited (i.e. holidays)
3. Cities/Countries you'd like to visit
4. Best times - rank them however you prefer - and why

Keep it civil please.

Havent crossed the borders yet but im planning to go to china by road this year
From Islamabad to Xinjiang:enjoy:

I am also planning this, but how i have no idea,

Well i have been to Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Qatar, Singapore, Thailand :)

My best time was in Srilank i love their Hospitality and overall weather was great. Food was too spicy but it was delicious. Infact Their golden coconut water is yummy.

Malaysia was awesome too, Their beaches are damn good. Not that expensive though. people are nice.

Qatar Experience was So So as it was in rush, went over there for UNMGCR Summit, Weather was damn hot. Living was good well it was free. I didnt like food much for me it was without spices.

Singapore is great for night life and to hang around. 1-2 days are enough to visit it whole.

But u need to have friends over there as it will help you alot, Bec their punlic transport is not that good and their roads are narrow if you want to travel to other cities. Luckily my friend was having a jeep. you can imagine that fron airport to candy which is around 120 KM it took us 4-5 hours. But i hear they are bulding new expressway idk if its ready or not yet.

But generally it was great time for me. Was planing to visit again on transit but bec of luggage i changed my mind.

Thought I'd let others go first ... but now that you've asked.

1. Pakistan, Malaysia, Australia, Hong Kong, Thailand, & UK - these are countries I've had a long term residence in
2. Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, Hawaii, Mainland USA, Taiwan, Mainland China, France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Czech Republic, Tunisia, India, UAE, Oman, South Africa - visited
3. Egypt, South America (would love to visit Amazon), Sri Lanka, Greenland, & rest of Pakistan - would like to visit in coming years
4. Best -> Pakistan, despite all the issues, my heart is there and retirement home will be in Swat or further up north.

Countries that really put me off were UAE and India. Food wise, Malaysia and Singapore are favourite. The vastness of Australia is so refreshing. Hong Kong has it's charm but too hectic for my liking living day in day out in that rushed life - but residence in quieter South and later on Peak with amazing views sitting in balcony made up for that madness. UK I actually feel stuffy in, it is a small crowded place with little freedom to roam around in open - everything is so darn controlled. Thailand is OK, northern part is beautiful and people are friendly and polite generally.

How about you?

i will be going with friends so Toyota Vigo

Northern areas for me would be on a motorbike ... even a 70cc CD70 would do just fine and minimalist camping gear ... planned it so many times but hasn't happened :(

Milan is dull as ! Rome, however, is much better imo.

Malaysia was awesome too

Which parts did you visit?

it all depends on how much time u have over there, like i went there on 48hours transit. Wasting half day to just travel doesnt worth it .

Saudi Arabia

Planning Umrah in a quiet time and then Haj inshallah. Everyone I've spoken with just love Madina. School going kids it's difficult to travel as much as before.

That's great. I was there from 89-96 and most of my teens, plus Mahatir era. Drive to Singapore was 7hrs those days through villages etc to get to Johor, no motorway past Melaka. Parents visit annually, Penang is their favourite spot to relax. My last visit was in 97 and from what I've heard there is a major transformation all over since.
