If this news turns out to be true can you imagine the constipation it will cause on the other side of the border :lol:
not possible its a fake news, radar on JF-17 has not enough range to guide PL-15 effectively @Wow :disagree::disagree:

. . .
Its just a fake news man . Tbh i will be surprised if they load pl15 on thunder 1 or 2

the PL15 missle is for Jf17 BlK3.

it will be an overkill for most fighters in IAF inventory.

after BlkI or II repalced with air cooled AESA radar, it also can fire PL15 missle.

without Rafale, IAF is doomed. and they will only have 36 rafales in the future.

.
Is it even possible to integrate a missile which has more range than the Radar itself ?
It is possible but would be stupid bcuz u would essentially be using an expensive weapon without fully utilizing its potential max range. However gone are the days when a fighter jet would operate alone(in terms of situational awareness). In a datalinked environment with ground radars, AWACS, and other fighter jets in the air all being able to paint a massive realtime picture of the airspace...
...an AWAC or ground radar can pick up an intruding enemy fighter at a considerable distance(beyond the detection range of the radar on board that fighter jet) and now the fighter jet can pass on that info to the missile it's carrying and launch. The missile has a two way data link...it can be guided to its target by the AWACs in the air for midcourse guidance and for the terminal phase it can turn on its own AESA radar to hone in for the kill.

As for whether or not PL15 has been actually acquired and integrated...I'll wait for some more substantial proof rather than hearsay.

It is said that the air cooled AESA radar can find the targets like J-7 at the distance of over 210km on the TWS mode.

and su-30mki? from how far can it be detected..I think it should be detected from even far than J-7 considering its big RCS

The news is proven to be non-credible. However, PL-15 etc BVRAAM are already discussed in respective threads.

Thread closed.
