PK-8 by-polls: PML-N’s Arbaz Wasim ahead in initial results

PESHAWAR (Staff Report) – Counting of votes for by-election on a vacant seat of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, PK-8 is in progress.

According to unofficial unconfirmed results of 60 poling stations PML-N’s Arbaz Wasim ahead in initial reports by scoring 7996 votes.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Malik Tehmas Khan has scored 5968 votes in by-polls of PK-8 Peshawar VIII.

Polling process is underway for by-election in PK-8 Peshawar-VIII, amid strict security arrangements.

Polling started at 8:00am and will continue till 5:00pm without any formal break.

As many as 15 candidates are running for the by-election, including PML-N’s Arbab Muhammad Waseem, PPP’s Tehmas Khan, PTI’s Shahzad Khan and JUI-F’s Asif Iqbal Daudzai.

The constituency has over 150,000 registered votes, out of which 56,000 voters are women. The Election Commission of Pakistan has established 97 polling stations for smooth polling process.

The ECP has declared 41 polling stations as extremely sensitive, while contingents of the Pakistan Army were also present inside and outside the polling stations.

PML-N candidate wins KP by-poll

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Arbab Waseem Hayat on Friday won the closely contested PK-8 by-election against Malik Tamash Khan of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), according to unofficial and unconfirmed results.

Hayat bagged 11,781 votes while Tamash secured 10,789 votes. Ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Shahzad Khan could only manage to get 9,347 votes to come on the third position.

The seat was vacated due to the death of a PML-N lawmaker.

Out of total 97 polling stations, 41 were declared extremely sensitive, 47 sensitive and 11 normal.

More than 5,000 police personnel were deployed for security at the polling stations during the by-election, said a report of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Home Department.

Contingents of Pakistan Army were also present at all polling stations. Arms and explosives were not allowed in and outside the polling stations and Section-144 had been imposed in the constituency.

All the parties siting in opposition in KPK, got 1, 2 and 3rd place, and PTI got 4th.

interesting fact is just two days back Imran khan came and address a Jalsa their.

In recent Past in which ever constituency IK did jalsa for PTI, that candidate lost the election.
