Pit stop: Chocolate doughnuts for Kerry in Islamabad

Gambit, that is a pretty stupid question. There tons of western food outlets in Pakistan, not just American. We have our own food and we have West/East continental as well just like any nation.
See post 14.

But then I am not surprised at the pettiness of this thread when once a member of the admin staff opened a thread about Americans using prepared foods, as if it was a unique thing in the world when every developed country that have indoor plumbings and refrigeration want the convenience of prepared food. That thread died QDQ.

My question was to point out the absurdity and pettiness of this thread.

Am no fan of John Kerry. I think he is the wrong person to present the US on the world stage. But the point that the idiots who made hay out of this is that they are ignorant of the details and of simple thinking. Kerry is in Pakistan for merely two days. Do these fools know what kind of schedule a diplomat at Kerry's level have in two days ? Barely time to eat breakfast and dinner, no lunch. Then when they do have time to eat, they cannot afford to eat and socialize. Their meals are working meals, meaning if the guests are not their peers, then the meals are shared with aides with issues to talk about. The meals have to be quick and easy to eat. No time to be 'cultured' as an ignorant Chinese poster admonished.

You guys -- the people in this forum -- are so desperate to criticize US at any level that you reduced yourselves to the level of children.
Again generalization.
See,not everyone thinks in same way but yes you can conclude majority-but hey nothing can be done: media, politics etc, people are influenced with all these. I find no difference b/w some mindests obsessed with US to that of people of west which are obsessed with :'Pakistan is like ME or Afghanistan'.
Hence the key is stability at political level.

A dealer kingpin never does his own drugs, only lower level subordinates do that.

Can any Pakistani explain to me what is chocolate doughnuts, an American food, doing in Pakistan ? Are Pakistani food not good enough ?

This shop is in American embassy............Dude ... We do not eat things like that here ....

Kerry is from Massachusetts and Dunkin Donuts is a local business - started out and headquartered there. Visiting the foreign franchises/partners of such businesses is the sort of thing American politicians do; Kerry was a senator long before he was Secretary of State.

Pakistan as a front line state on WOT who agreed to support your ill thought out war, the least you could do was to send your President instead of the lackey. What a slap on the face Pakistanis.

I always considered Kerry the U.S. politician most sympathetic to Pakistan. I figure one of the primary reasons he was nominated as SecState was to honor the importance of the U.S.-Pakistan relationship.

The Kerry visits to Pakistan have already been done. Hillary Clinton has also visited albeit she was slightly obnoxious.

I posted a warm post about US/Pak relations and mentioned COAS visit to US and positive relations moved forward from there on.

Problem is, its been more than 10 years since WOT. War has winded down and still no sign of President visit to Pakistan. They could have easily decided to tell NATO to f**k off and backed Afghan Taliban at full tilt and squeezed them out whilst keeping the peace in Pakistan but they didn't. Now where is the reciprocation and I am not talking about money, I am talking about a state visit.
