Pinaka Mark II MBRL Enters Production - Guided Rocket Variant Under Development

Alloy Steels Plant, Durgapur, the special steels manufacturing unit Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has, for the first time, supplied special forgings to Field Gun Factory, Kanpur. These will be utilised for application in Pinaka Rockets, ASP Durgapur said in a statement.

There is No news about Prahar

Prithvi-I which is in active service since 1988 will be replaced by Prahar tactical quick reaction ballistic missiles. The tactical versions of the Prithvi missiles would be withdrawn from service and will be upgraded to be used for longer ranges.

Interestingly Prahar will be part of IA's Artillery Corps.

Eventually the Prithvi series and Agni I and II will be replaced by Shaurya in the long run - India's first canistered ballistic missile much capable then the former ones.
