ISLAMABAD, Jan 3 (APP): A pilot project has been launched to implement Campus Management Solution (CMS) in six geographically and subject wise diversified public sector universities, an official of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) said on Thursday.
The universities selected for the pilot project included Quaid-i-Azam University (Islamabad), the Punjab University (Lahore), University of Engineering and Technology (Peshawar), Balochistan University (Quetta), DOW University of Health Sciences (Karachi) and Islamia University (Bahawalpur), he said.
The official said a Commission has been set up on the directives of HEC Chairman Dr. Attaur Rehman that has a vision to facilitate universities with the information management system that drives out institutions to pursue new avenues of growth, he said.
The CMS is an integrated solution, which efficiently deals with the various activities of an educational system such as faculty and student management and administrative functions.
Tender to procure campus solution was floated in 2006 and the International Implemented Solutions Contract Agreement was signed with M/s Techlogix in 2007, he said.
The modules of the project included student admission, curriculum management, course enquiries, class time tabling, academic advertisement, faculty and student record system, student financials, campus self-service and alumni, he added.
The official said the project would help provide a comprehensive solution that allows to manage the campus related information and reduce time for the processing and completion of the task.
The project, he said, would also help our universities streamline their processes and enhance administrative efficiency besides offering software technology and applications that helped world class educational institutions meet and adapt to the challenging demands of all their constituentsstudents, teachers, parents and others.
