KARACHI: Due to the grounding of half a dozen Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft, the state-owned carrier is incurring losses to the tune of millions of rupees.

The Boeing 777 AP-BHV aircraft owned by PIA has been grounded for the last one year since its engine is in need of repair, reports Express Tribune.

At first, PIA couldn’t afford the rehabilitation of the aircraft and it was later forgotten. As per industry sources, if the PIA management had focused, the aircraft could have been repaired a year ago.

Now, PIA is making efforts to resuscitate it, however, it faces a daunting task since most of its parts have been utilized in other aircraft.

Also, the state-owned airline had utilized one of its two Airbus A320 parts-AP-BLA and AP-BLV- in other aircraft in order to minimize their losses.

Interestingly, the remainder will keep incurring losses, since PIA is liable to pay rent of these non-operational aircraft which are on lease.

And the AP-BKZ has also been grounded because of ordinary non-operational parts, whilst AP-BKW is also waiting for the commencement of flights after getting its new engine.

. . . .
It's nothing but a corrupt PeePeePee employment agency... Hired the most corrupt people to run an entire airline into the ground.

PTI government will have tough time to turn this flying turd around.

Good luck... Let's see if miracles happen.

. . . .
From building dams to fixing PIA, if everything is to be done by Malik Riqz then why not just make him PM?
Or better yet sale the whole country
privatize the company and get out of misery
Selling a loss taking company will cause more losses better since every one was crying about corruption and managment issues hire a private firm to handle all this let them do on field search what steps to take which dept and people to let go and just get it over with that if somebody is using false documents make sure he gets nothing
Pia still has a chance it can be recovered when it making decent profit than share half of it and give goverment less control on daily task and let private holders run it

Making him PM will be conflic of interest.

He is a businessman. what would he get out of building the dam? PIA is losing money. We need to sell it as soon as possible. Offer him to buy 60% to 70% share of PIA and hand over the management to him.
