Maybe just one engine, but that was enough for the pilots to make a forced landing. Immediately ahead in the flight path was a civilian habitation, so rather than risking flying over it, they decided to crash land it immediately. The aircraft had only just taken off.

One engine is enough for the SU-30 to even take off in after-burner mode at low angle. So that couldn't be the reason. Probably a malfunction of the mission computer.
