MANILA, Philippines - Known for its vibrant services sector, the Philippines has what it takes to become Southeast Asia’s production hub once the regional integration kicks in by the end of the year, a new report said.

“Investors can view the Philippines as a gateway to the rest of the region as well as to Asean’s six free trade partners in East Asia,” the report titled “Moving Across Borders: The Philippines and the Asean Economic Community” said.

The 78-page report, released Monday by auditing firm KPMG R.G. Manabat & Co., discussed the country’s prospects on the looming integration of the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean).

On the positive side, the country’s young demographics could work on its favor as it lures back factories that will leave China and go to Asean for opportunities.

Filipinos are among the youngest in the Asean, the report said, pointing out that productivity is highly determined by the presence of a large working force to man factories...

For the race to be a manufacturing hub is something, but the next race should be building our service industry. Advanced Nation has huge service industry share in their GDP, including Australia.

So as Philippine like to boast that they have huge educated people with English fluency (thats why they export many people for white collar works to Western countries), so they must be focusing themselves to generate many of their young people (the best ones) to set up any company in the service sector in their own country rather than going abroad for getting safe job in the western countries ( accountant, and others)

We are starting ahead....

with close proximity to International Cargo ports of Singapore and intensive investment from overseas.............

Service industry without manufacturing output and industrialization means nothing for your country base strength.

and the reasons why Philippine people go abroad for service industry sector is because their country doesn't have adequate number of growing industry sector. Literally their industrialization is put a hold without significant investment, but the trends is more and more investment starting to came again into Philippine....

Of course sistaa,

Many companies in the service sector are actually targeting corporations. They are needed to improve the human and technology part of manufacturing sectors.

As I see in Indonesia, many service sector company from abroad has come to Indonesia setting up their company here. So I urge Indonesians to fight them. Many people not understand the importance of having both knowledge and braveness.

I will share my own experience here, there is Indian (woman) Phd in statistic that set up a market research company in Indonesia with only have about 5 people working for her, other jobs like data collections will use freelancers.

She can get huge project in here.

. .
We will see
Pinoy without the support of China is unlikely to make any gains in Manufacturing industries. Despite Territories bickering. VPC is still very keen in developing good relationship with CPC by inviting President Xi to vietnam last month. Indonesia too maintain good r/s with China and allow us to win their HSR project.

Philippine with terrible r/s with China can prepare to eat dust. Japan is a declining economy. They dont have much money left to invest on you. Same as the cheapskate American who has no money to inject into Philippine economy to make yours competitive against with Indonesia and Vietnam. Philippine need a superpower like China who has lots of money to invest in infrastructure like power stattion, bridge, good port, good roads and good urban planning with plenty of apartments. This will need double digit billions like 40-70 billions dollar. Not like your cheapskate American giving few hundred million dollars. It will not change anything. China is the only country in the world now to have this abilities to make a different for Philippine. Aquino is a big stupid jerk with no brain by messing up his priorities.

So this article about Philippine will become a manufacturing hub is just a bragging article with no facts and substance to back it up. Put it bluntly, it's a joke!

The economic restrictions prevent foreign investments in coming to the Philippines which could have generated jobs many Filipino professionals seek in other countries.

Alas, politics, a restrictive economic policy and monopoly on almost everything by large local companies that doesn't have any competition prevents development, thus stagnation. The said large local companies also indirectly prevents SME (small-medium enterprises) from prospering.

Sadly, productivity is wasted because of a restrictive economic policy that is enforced by the Constitution. Sadly, the plans to remove or lessen the restriction is always shut down by politicians and at present, by president Aquino.

Election time drawing near. Who will you choose for the next president?

Of course it is actually war happening in business, but with the technology of internet and IT, small medium enterprises should be able to compete.

And it should be much easier to penetrate corporate market in the service sector as the product is knowledge, management, analytical skills and mental strength, as I have mentioned earlier in market research business.

The marketing is only calling via phone, presentation, and good writing in our proposals that will be sent via email that not cost us too much.

Most likely Duterte - his federalism platform is different from the rest of the candidates.

Recent news reveal that his view also quite positive toward maintaining healty cooperation with China in particular, what do you think?
