Philippine Nuclear Ambitions

Please be remind that we have a No First Use nuclear policy. Regardless whether you acquire Nuke, it will not change our position of seeking bilateral negotiation to settle dispute.

Oh also I like to teach you a little bit. We also the one who advocate to dismantle nuclear weapon, supporting a treaty. But as you know, the US and Soviet didn't want to for reason being obvious.

While your government has a "NFU policy", your friends here do not share the sentiment.

Before your lecture me, read what your "friends" have posted it some time ago.

I am pretty sure that many in Mainland China share the same sentiment in "nuking China's enemies".

Sadly, our constitution prohibits having nuclear weapons as it would make the Philippine a legitimate target for a first-strike nuke attack, and that Chernobyl and Fukushima comes first into the minds of the Filipinos when nuclear topic is raised.

You mean it's a part of your constitution to not have a nuke?

You mean it's a part of your constitution to not have a nuke?

The Section 8 of the Article II of the 1987 Philippine Constitution goes like this:

Section 8. The Philippines, consistent with the national interest, adopts and pursues a policy of freedom from nuclear weapons in its territory

THE 1987 CONSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES – ARTICLE II | Official Gazette of the Republic of the Philippines

Other than the fact that having Nuclear weapons is unconstitutional. The Philippines used to have a nuclear plant, but after Chernobyl it was decommissioned.

And with it any chance of Philippines going nuke.

And it is now a tourist spot.

Bad people live long

Well that's true i hate him screw him anyhow again the whole thing is irrelevant now well if they bring bank the sumpak and the bongbong missile project or even that white elephant bataan nuclear power plant back sure but the nuke weapon issue true or not it's already dead and it should stay that dead again the old fool is just trying to get people to pay attention to him we should just ignore him just like the anti filipino anti peace warmongering imperialist 50cent armchair warriors here

So why did you give them up?

Just because your master said so?

That is really foolish. National interests should come first, not the interests of foreign masters.

man you people need to get brain we sign the non proliferation treaty 1972 a year before unlike you people we are not trying to international deviants man you 50cent troll your always full of bull

We signed the Non-Proliferation Treaty as well, and we have nuclear weapons.

Protecting national sovereignty comes first. Not following the interests of foreign powers.

Whether this is true or not, it may have some implications had this plan been realized.

I am not a nuclear engineer, but given that Japan has a lot of nuke power plants, they may have some capability to enrich uranium. Maybe that is the aim - to have the capability (or sort of) to enrich uranium and the Bataan nuclear power plant could provide the spent uranium.

The 1973 Yom Kippur War and its global effects on oil during that decade provided the basis for Marcos to build the Bataan nuclear power plant. Despite being a buttcrack, you have to remember that Enrile served as the defense minister of the Philippines under Marcos.

Add to this is the Santa Barbara Project which is about locally developed rockets that aims to increase the firepower capability of the AFP...

From the looks like it, Marcos is aiming at what North Korea had done with its nuke program and rockets.

Let us remind you again that our official position is NFU. Now you can accuse us anything and I'm sure if we are not powerful, the Pinoy will want to nuke us too if you have the weapon. But reality is different than fantasy.

well you people sign things and never follow them you people are international deviant and it's your country's problem not my country's and that will cost you people someday and posting this is a evidence of not using ones brain on part of protecting sovereignty i agree which is a once in blue moon moment for me but honoring international agreements, treaties, conventions is mark of responsible nation something foreign to you people and now you know why people don't want to negotiate bilaterally this is actual the second reason why you people do not honor what you sign in to.

Again its just mut and academic in this point in time not unless we planning to resurrect the programs personally i would with the exception of the nuke program not unless we change the constitution of the country and leave the non proliferation treaty but for now we have to honor our commitments. And the old goat should just shut up already no one give a f about him if he had some decency left he would just left and resign and kill himself but his not so ignore him

Well if we change the constitution sure we can but we need a decades to build it up again then again we have the national nuclear research institute but it's namely nuclear power not weapons buts its good place to start but again lot's of money and time better for them to convince people to support nuclear energy and hopefully to turn on the bataan nuclear plant on which again will cost the Philippines 1 billion dollars to do but still worth it to help with the power supply of the Philippines

My friend, I have respond very properly to the relevant of any doubts or concern. Your compatriot @Cossack25A1 made a point about using some questionable opinion of some Chinese and dictated that all Chinese feel the same way. My job is to teach her and correct her false imagination. You have to understand I always spoke from the official position of our country policy and official words. If anyone express out of our government policy, then it is that "individual opinion" and has no take on our official position. Can we agree on this, my friend?

So your government official stance is be jerk to all ? Thanks for the clarification! This typical of you 50cent trolls you talk and taunt and make stupid post and when you back to connor you try this tactic of trying to be a nice guy tactic why not be truthful for once you people are forever closet cowards despicable tactics and what worse you people don't even read the topic discussion you just flood the thread with nonsense until people call you out and then you play this tactic again again forever cowards.

You mean it's a part of your constitution to not have a nuke?

Yes the current constitution forbids all forms of nuclear weapons from Philippine soil with the exception of nuclear energy

In fact, nuclear power is really a risk for any and all pacific rim countries that lies within the ring of fire:

ring+of+fire+map.png

You have nuclear power plants too man true risky but still an energy producer which we need and besides compare to fukushima and chernobyl our bataan plant is new compare to the two well for its age and been build under international standards but still we need 1 billion to bring back to life

You mean any type of weapon of mass destruction? interesting ...I hope one day all countries follow you ...

. .
To tell you the true i hate the idea but then again nuke weapons are danger to all us humans

Ironically, in one movie, a character once said.

"No, nine out of ten war victims today are killed with assault rifles and small arms - like yours. Those nuclear weapons sit in their silos. Your AK-47, that's the real weapon of mass destruction."
