Oo so am not sure kasi i don't carry the last name like rizal family we change it sabi ng grandparents and other family members we change it when Governor Gen Narciso Zaldua ask filipinos including 1st gen chinoys to change their last names to spanish names but my chinoy bloodline is from my mom side fyi lang
Ah, pareho yan sa mga Japanese immigrants sa Pilipinas. After WW2, many changed their names to Spanish surnames to assimilate, and to escape anti-Japanese sentiments pa rin. Understandable yan diba? Pero that's good to know you still remember your Chinese lineage, my friend. You should be proud to be part Chinese, and most importantly don't associate political differences between the state of China and the state of Philippines as a reason to not like your Chinese heritage. Always be proud of it.
If only Japanese Americans were as keen to remember their Japanese identity !
